Hawaii Honeymoon

I'm having a hard time deciding where to go on my honeymoon. Originally we wanted to go to Hawaii because we've always wanted to go, there are things to do besides the beach, and we wanted to pick a place that we will probably never get the chance to go to again!

Now that we have looked at the prices compared to some ALL-Inclusive hotels in the carribean I'm double guessing myself considering we are looking into buying a home soon!! Any suggestions?

Hawaii Honeymoon - Long Island Weddings

we wanted hawaii too, but the long expensive flight and ridiculously expensive accomodations wasn't worth it to us. and most of the hotels in hawaii aren't all inclusive

so, we decided on a butler suite at sandals la toc in st. lucia because st. lucia is considered 'the hawaii of the caribbean' because of the volcanos, beautiful beaches and stuff like that. We felt like we got alot more for our money by doing all inclusive

OK, so FH and I aren't the only ones....that makes me feel a little better. We originally picked Hawaii and even had the two hotels picked out. I mean, how often do you take more than 1 week off of work and can fly that distance? Not to mention, once there is a kid....
But, after crunching numbers, we both realized its just not feasible to pay for the majority of a wedding AND get to Hawaii. So, its the Riviera Maya....all inclusive and so much more affordable. Hawaii will have to wait. But, now we'll be able to pay off some debt and put a little $$ away. Less financial stress equals a more enjoyable honeymoon, in the long run :)

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon

We decided to do Hawaii and I have to admit, it is getting kinda pricey but I figure, this is the only time we're ever going to get a chance to go pre-children, so it's worth the splurge. You could opt for a cruise around the islands with Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America! That's how we're spending half the honeymoon.

we wanted to do Europe for the same reason, when else can we do it. BUT when flight alone is $3k that's crazy!
nothing is set yet bc we have time but we r llooking into st lucia,Aruba, negril, and possibly DR. we were looking into Antigua, but we found out froma travel agent that camo clothing is illegal there, that all fh owns as far as shorts lol . so that's out bc to buy shorts that he will most likely not wear again jusy for the honeymoon is silly... there is other places to go!

We are thinking of doing Hawaii also. I have been a few times but FH has never been. I think it is worth it to splurge bc once you buy a house & have kids when are you going to be able to justify spending the money? I say Hawaii all the way :)

I was going to do Hawaii but the flight time and price made me decide against it! If you need help use Katie from Ever After Honeymoons she is wonderful and will work with a budget. At this moment I may be going to St. Barts & Anguilla both suppose to be gorgeous islands! I would of never though to them without her!

My FH and I are splurging and doing Hawaii. It is an expensive trip, but we figured it's a once in a lifetime opportunity so we are accepting of the cost. I've never been on a trip like this before so I'm really excited.

Hawaii Honeymoon - Long Island Weddings

Maybe a cruise around Hawaii would be less expensive? I know cruises aren't for everyone. There are plenty of places in the Caribbean that are amazing & I am sure you could go for a longer period of time for the same money if not less. I loved Excellance in Playa Mujeres & heard their resort in DR is great. I've heard nothing but great things about sandals resorts & believe they opened a new one in Bermuda? It all depends on what is most important to the two of you. Anywhere with your new husband will be fantastic :)

Check out europeandestinations.com Fh has a friend who went to europe for two weeks on his honeymoon in march for $3000 with airfare. It's why we are putting our honeymoon off until march so we can go to europe like we want.

I've been to Costa Rica on two different occassions, 10 years apart and I highly recommend going. Its absolutely gorgeous, inexpensive, and costa ricans are very hospitable. FH and I just may retire there :)

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon

We went to Hawaii last year and it was the most amazing place I have ever been. We decided to go because all we had to pay for was airfare and then dinner/drinks or any extra things we wanted to do while we were there. I have to say that if you can swing it, it's definitely worth it but I would not be able to pay for that and a wedding, and now, a place to live. We were there for 9 days and we spent almost $4,000 on just the extras!

We went at the best time because we weren't engaged yet (got engaged while there ) but I think it will be more enjoyable for you to establish yourselves first and be settled into a house if that's what you're thinking of doing and then doing that vacation later down the line.

We're doing St. Lucia for our honeymoon and have heard nothing but great things about that island!!

I have been too and had a good time. My friend and I stayed at the Westin in Guanacoste & it was nice. The water is not crystal clear (at least where we were) so if water is important to you I wouldn't suggest here. However, if you like excursions and wildlife opposed to clear waters than I agree this is a good option!

Hawaii Honeymoon - Long Island Weddings

We went to Hawaii on our honeymoon & it was the best decision we made. You don't have to stay at the St. Regis or Four Seasons but instead stay at the Hyatt/Westin/Marriott. They're still very nice but are a little more reasonable. Also, try to get your travel agency to have your breakfast included. That alone will save you $80/day. The excursions (snorkeling, helicopter ride, etc) are very expensive though.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon

I might be able to save you some money for you were looking to go to either Honolulu or Waikoloa. FH and I own a Hilton timeshare and we have a lot of extra points this year since we can't really travel as much as we do because of the wedding. If you are interested I can probably take half of what hilton is offering on their website. Here is the links to some of the hotels that I can use my points at:
