we got quotes from liberty travel for 10 nights in hawaii....6500 for both of us, including all air, hotels and jeep rentals on 3 islands (2 nights in wakiki-oahu), 4 in kuai and 4 in maui. Can anyone tell me if this is a good price?????
Also how much spending money do you typically need for 10 days in hawaii? is this enough time?
could anyone recommend a really good travel agent that gets great quotes?
the hotels would be- the outrigger in oahu the marriot in kuai and the hyatt regacy in maui all oceanview
does anyone know any other nice hotels? i usually plan all of our trips and this is one i don't even want to think of taking on!

Well, if you'd really like to know if you got a good deal. Try getting quotes on your own. Go to Hotels.com for the rooms. Or even expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity for packages. We are doing 10 days in Hawaii. 7 in Maui at Westin and 3 at Outrigger(same as you) in Oahu. Then going to Vegas for 4 days. I was not able to do a package because I did not have roundtrip anywhere. I booked everything seperate. I tried that quite a few times on all different flights to see what I could get. Hotels.com gave me 3rd night free at the outrigger. I got an amazing deal flying from Oahu to Vegas. By checking periodically. It cant hurt. And if you don't come up with anything as good as that. then you'll know. But try the seardching for at least a week or two. Fares are always changing.. HTH

Re: Hawaii honeymoon planning help
seems a bit high to me honestly. We paid $7200 for 22 nights (23 days) last year. 4 nights Outrigger Waikik on the Beach (Oahu) partial oceanview; 8 nights Grand Hyatt (Kauai) partial oceanview; 10 nights Hyatt Regency (Maui) partial oceanview. This included breakfast each day at all hotels, convertibles on all 3 islands and interisland airfare. It did not include airfare to/from Hawaii as we used FF miles.
However, we also went in November which is considered off peak but included one week at peak (Thanksgiving week).
Try pricing out a package online at pleasantholidays.com and see how it compares to what you've been given.
The first time I went to Hawaii I did 3 islands in 11 days. It was a lot. The first time DH and I went together, we did 3 islands in 16 nights and for our HM we spent just over 3 weeks.
Honestly, 2, 4 and 4 might seem a bit rushed but that's just my opinion.
Figure $200 a day for meals and excursions.

Re: Hawaii honeymoon planning help
We just got back from our two week trip to Hawaii. We stayed on Maui then Kauai. We spent about $12k on hotels and all airfare but we flew first class and had a suite in Maui.
Kauai is AMAZING. We stayed at the Koa Kea (a boutique luxury hotel). We didnt want to do two huge resorts. (In Maui we stayed at the Grand Wailea). Theres something to be said for staying at a smaller boutique hotel - the service is impeccable. They wait on you hand and foot - anything you need. They were truly amazing.
Id check into the Koa Kea. They are on Poipu Beach which is the sunnier side of the island (not that much rain) and they are right next door to an awesome restaurant called Plantation Garden. They have a restaurant in the Koa Kea called Red Salt - the food is awesome. We really love this place.
The food and drinks get pretty expensive wherever you go. At the resort on Maui the drinks were $14 each by the pool! Bring a lot of spending money.
Feel free to fm me if you have other questions :)
Few pieces of advice --
On Kauai make sure you do a cruise along the Na Poli Coast. Its truly amazing. Also, check out the Waimea Canyon if you are renting a car.
On Maui - go to Mama's Fish House. The food is AMAZING. If you eat fish - get their signature dish (macadamia nut crusted stuffed mahi mahi - trust me)

Re: Hawaii honeymoon planning help
I went in what is considered off season, even though its still beautiful in January. We paid a little bit less then you for flights and hotels. I STALKED the flight deals, and ended up getting an amazing deal on the flights from Newark, which is direct.
In Oahu we stayed at the Outrigger Reef, newly remodeled and directly on the beach. In Maui we stayed at the Hyatt, service was great and we had an amazing time here. We didn't go to Kauai so I can't help you there.
Also, someone mentioned Mama's Fish House, definitely go there....next time we go we actually want to stay there. The food is AMAZING. Also in Maui, check out Hike Maui and Blue Water Snorkeling. As for restaurants for a great casual dinner check out Kool Kat Cafe, and another great place is Mala.
The only thing we did that I didn't like was the Old Lahaina Luau, kind of boring.
Meals and activites are VERY expensive. We went for 11 days and spent about another $4k on top of the flights and hotels.
Someone on here once told me to budget $1k a day soup to nuts and that is pretty much exactly what we spent.
