Hawaii Honeymoon-where to go, and for how long?

Hawaii Honeymoon-where to go, and for how long?

Hi ladies, wanted to get some feedback on the Hawaii that the travel agent put together for us. I should preface by saying that we are not all that into hotels, so we are not looking at 5 star hotels. We decided that we would rather put the money back into the activities and food, and so the HM would be longer. Saved quite a bit that way too. We have not booked yet, so this is not cast in stone..

I thought I would see if anyone has been to the Marriott resorts on Maui or Kawaii? We would be staying 2 days in Oahu (in Honalulu), 4 days in Kawaii and 6 days in Maui. I am not sure about the Oahu part, was thinking of changing to 6 days in Kawaii and 6 days in Maui, with a day trip to the big island. Aside from the Pearl Harbor stuff, is Oahu worth it?

I personally don't think its worth it. It's too touristy. I couldn't wait to leave.

I figure we would do the Pearl Harbor part since FH loves seeing pieces of History, however I'm not that excited about it, so if he doesn't bring it up, neither will I and we'll stick to Maui and Kauai as planned

We have been to Hawaii three times.
We have stayed at the Marriott on Maui twice. You will like it. It's a fun place to stay.
Have been to Kaui also. Very beautiful and relaxing!
Didn't stay at the marriott but it looked nice.
JMHO I would skip Oahu. You couldn't ask for mor than you will get from Maui and Kauai.
Great restaurants on Maui!!
You'll love it! Been to Maui three times, would go back again in a heartbeat!
Wish I was there now!

debbus, THANKS for your feedback on the Marriott, the brochure looks beautiful and I am glad to know that you enjoyed your stay there. I think I want to skip Oahu, although I have to find a way to talk FH out of Pearl Harbor. He LOVES that history stuff, watches the historu channel all the time. Maybe we can do a day trip there too, and stay in Maui and Kawaii. I am going to check w. the travel agent.

Your welcome!
Bet your FH would like Haliakala(sp?) The volcano on Maui. We did a sunrise downhill bike ride that was beyond description! Maui downhill riders are the best! It's worth getting up at the crack of dawn for!

We stayed in Oahu (Waikiki) for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. We went to Pearl Harbor, the beach was a lot of fun there, even at night we took walks and the restaurants were nice too. If you want to go to Maui and Kauai, you can take a day trip from one of the islands to Oahu for Pearl Harbor - check out those magazines in the airport, there are tons of ads for these kind of trips. Pearl Harbor is really worth seeing.

We are going to Hawaii- % nights maui/6 nights Kuai and the day trip to Oahu.
Many people told us it was not worth it. It costs about $200 per person for the day trip ( aifare included)

Oooh, pretty! Thanks for the pic!

Well, it looks like FH is really into Oahu and the whole Pearl Harbor thing, so I guess we are going there (darn compromises!!) The travel agent has us going to Honalulu (sp?) though, and w. no car. Do we need a car there? We have one on the other islands, but she says the location of the hotel is central so we dont need one.
