FH really wants to see Pearl Harbor (he 's a history teacher)
but thats all we want to do there.
We would do 5 nights in Kaui and 5 nights in Maui otherwise.
or we would do 2 in Oahu, 4 in Kaui and 4 in Maui.
which would be better?

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
Having been there & doing all 3 islands you mention, I'd say Oahu was our least favorite. It is a big city, crowded, noisy, expensive, etc. We did love Pearl Harbor though & it was really something to see, but are you willing to fly there for the day?
There are a lot of nice restaurants and such....maybe do all 3 islands.
Did you decide on your hotels?

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
we are deciding between the hyatts on Kauai and Maui
or
the Poipu Kapili Condos in Kauai and the Sheraton in Maui.
I forgot which hotel in Oahu, but since we might not stay there im not too concernd.
the quote for the second was $1K cheaper than the first. I know the hyatts have the free breakfast, but im not much of a breakfast person so i dont know how much id enjoy it anyway!

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
we are doing 3 days in Oahu and 7 days in Maui...i think 1 day is pretty good...its like the city over there in Oahu....
We're doing 3 nights in Oahu and 5 nights in Maui. I've heard that a day trip to Oahu is doable. It was suggested to me that we pre book Pearl Harbor and get there early. A lot of people go to see it. That's the primary reason why we're going to Oahu, but I'm sure we'll find things to do there

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
We are looking into 5 nights in Maui and 5 nights in Kuai. Most likely staying at both Hyatts. We were looking into Oahu but a lot of people are saying stick with Kuai and Maui.

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
I haven't been yet but I would suggest 2 nights on Oahu. Pearl Harbor is a full day thing and as a fellow teacher, you FH needs to see Pearl Harbor. I figured I am sure we can find things to do the other days we are there. Good luck!

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
I guess I am on the opposite of the spectrum, I've been to Oahu, and that was our most favorite. When we go there, we are staying 4 days.

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
I heard from a lot of people to do 2 or 3 days in Oahu. Mainly to see Pearl Harbor one day. There isn't a lot to do there and i heard that it is very similar to NYC.
We are doing
3 days Oahu 3 days Kaui 6 days Maui

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
We did 6 nights in Maui 6 in Kauai
Our two favorite islands
We did 2 nights in Oahu just to do brief sight seeing & Pearl Harbor. EXTREMELY different than the other 2 islands. We just didn't want to spend too much time in a city - we wanted paradise, seclusion, beauty, etc.
If you stay at Oahu for an extended period of time - go to the northern coast of Oahu - that is supposed to be very nice!

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
We are doing 3 nights in Kauai, then five nights in Oahu and 6 nights in Maui. We figured we might as well do it all. Also a lot of the hotels offer if you stay 4 nights you get the 5th night free. You may want to ask your travel agent about that.

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners
Since you're going to initially land in honolulu, why don't you stay the first night there so FH can see Pearl Harbor then fly to the next island.
I went to Maui and Kauai....get to Kauai as fast as you can! It's BEAUTIFUL
