DH & I stayed at the Grand Hyatt. OMG. It was amazing. We stayed in on of the suits at a cost of $1K per night & it was worth every penny. They completely spoil you. They cleaned up the room twice a day. I loved that place so much I even did two loads of laundry while on the honeymoon.

Donderos was amazing. We ate there one night & at Tidepools the other. The other night we where there we went to their Luau, it was a great show & the food was great.
At first we weren't going to eat at Tidepools but we didn't want Italian two nights in a few. So we went there. The food was so amazing. Please tell me you had there dessert. You have to order it in advance because it takes 20 minutes to make & it was to die for.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt from April 13-19 and we loved it. There wasn't any construction going on and the pools were open. We ate at Donderos and Tidepools..the food was great at both restaurants. I think I liked Tidepools a bit more..maybe because I have Italian all the time in NY.

Me and FH are planning on going to Kauai. Is food as expensive as everyone says it is?

I personally thought the food in Hawaii is very comparable to Manhattan prices...so yes, it's pricey but not jaw dropping pricey..or at least not to us since we are used to city prices.

ok that's what i was hoping for. But I had people (Who i'm not even sure have ever been there) saying that it is ridiculously expensive. We're used to Manhattan prices. I was just worried it was gonna be like 40 a person for breakfast.

Did you guys take any tours or do any activities that you would recommend? Even the must try restaurants

The breakfast buffet at the Grand Hyatt was almost $30 per person. I can't remember the exact price. I mean it's pricey but they had soo much food. We would literally stuff ourselves at the breakfast buffet and would not be remotely hungry until dinner time..so it worked out since we were paying for our breakfast and lunch..lol

I would definitely recommend a helicopter tour in Kauai. We did Island Helicopters with the waterfall landing and it was great. We also did the luau at the Grand Hyatt..it was nice but I liked the luau in Maui more..but DH liked the Grand Hyatt luau more so you never know. We did a lot of relaxing in Kauai..it's the perfect island for that. For restaurants, Tidepools and Donderos are really good. They are in the Grand Hyatt. Roy's Restaurant nearby was also very good. Keoki's Paradise was also good.

Grand Hyatt is having a special right now- includes a free night and complimentary breakfast. There is construction but it is on the rooms and the building effected will be completely closed. This is now thru Jan. It is on their website. I was supposed to stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani in wailea in Maui but just found out they will be renovating 2 out of 3 pools during our trip so we need to figure out a new hotel.
