hawaii luau question

hawaii luau question

I'm about to book the Old Lahaina Luau in hawaii ... but they have two options - traditional mat seating, or conventional table & chair seats. I know the mat seats are closer ... but i'm assuming they're less comfortable. The two are the same price, btw.

where were you seated if you went? did you wish you opted for the opposite option?

TIA

Not sure if you read my review, and I hate to burst your bubble but we HATED the Old Lahaina Luau, honestly it was sooooo boring, I fell asleep. Either way you want the chair seats, the mat seats are closer, but so not comfortable for sitting and eating. Also, eat before you go, the food was horrible, but the drinks are awesome!

Re: hawaii luau question

LOL is it really that bad? I've heard mixed things from diff people on here so i decided to try it. And one website i was looking at (i think it was about.com) said that it has good (but not great) food but the show part is the best.

They said Feast of Lele is #1 for food and has a good show also ... do you know anything about that luau? should i do that one instead?

ps: i actually really appreciate you 'bursting my bubble'

Re: hawaii luau question

I guess we were just expecting something else. If you want a traditional experience then go to this one. But I wanted some excitement, like fire eaters and more dancing....its very slow and light music. We were just so bored. And the food is also very traditional....if your picky eaters then this isn't for you. DH is picky but I'm willing to try any type of food and wasn't a fan. However, at the end of the road where it is, there is a great restaurant called Mala, amazing fish. And nearby is the Pier which is a great place to walk around afterwards and get ice cream.

I picked it based on reviews and for what they charge it should be amazing, but I was not impressed. I wish we went to the one at the hotel, it was at the Hyatt....I think it was called Cirque Polynesia??
