Re: Hawaii Question?
OMG GO TO KAUAI!!! I Just got back Friday and I cried when we left. It was the most beautiful place I've ever seen in my life. We also went to Honolulu which I don't recommend. It was beautiful but NOTHING like Kauai. In Honolulu, once you leave the resort area, it's actually kinda gross. Kauai is GORGEOUS.

Re: Hawaii Question?
ooh, where did you stay in Kauai? We are staying at the Hyatt, but I heard people rave about the Princeville. I was debating switching hotels
Oh...we are doing 5 nights in Maui and 5 nights in Kauai, then on the way back, we are staying in Nappa/Sonoma for 3 days

I didn't go to the Princeville area but I met a couple in the airport on the way home who went there for a day at the Princeville resort and were not impressed with it. They said it was VERY stuck up. Also, it is very rainy on that side [the north] of Kauai. As for the Hyatt..you will not be disapointed. We stayed at the Marriott [I work in travel and got a better deal there] but I went to the Hyatt and it was the most beautiful hotel I've ever seen in my life. Huge, lush and just breathtaking. We loved Kauai so much, we're going back for our honeymoon next year. You will LOVE it!

I promise..you will love it. I heard the rooms are just average but I personally did not see them. I did see the hotel though and it as seriously so beautiful, I almost passed out!

We were just at Liberty today - we're going to the Big Island (staying at the Four Seasons) and Maui (staying at the Sheraton). If we had time, we'd go to Kauai, but we don't want to move around that much since we too only have 13 nights and we have heard a lot of great things about the Big Island. However, we were considering the Hyatt on Maui, and the travel agent mentioned that the Hyatt on Kauai is an amazing hotel - the best Hyatt around. The one in Maui doesn't even compare - so, when we return to Hawaii, we're planning on going to Kauai and staying at the Hyatt.

Re: Hawaii Question?
We are doing Oahu for no other reason than to pay tribute to my father's service in WW2 by seeing Pearl Harbor. (2 nights at the Royal Hawaiian)
Off to Kauai (3 nights) at the Hyatt.
Two nights at the Volcano House right on a Volcano in Hilo - The Big Island of Hawaii
4 nights at the Hyatt in Maui.
So basically we are mixing rest and relaxation with a bit of tourism. We saved Maui for last upon suggestion from many people.

Re: Hawaii Question?
We went to the Big Island (which was my husband's favorite) and Kauai (my favorite). both islands were so terrific. Kauai is so beautiful. On the Big Island we stayed at the Hapuna Prince (beautiful beach, great hotel). We stayed there for our entire 7 day stay, but did take a day trip to Hilo and the volcano. On Kauai, we stayed at the Princeville. It is definitely on the rainier side of the island. This was not a problem for us, but some may be bothered depending on how much time you plan to spend on the beach. It was gorgeous.

Re: Hawaii Question?
We are going to Maui and Kaui staying at Hyatts. If I had more time I would go to the Big Island and stay at the Four seasons. I saw a special on the travel channel and the hotel looks beautiful!!!! Honolulu- I went a long time ago, but what I remember is it is very city like. It will have a lot of night life, restaurants, beaches, but is not very secluded. It doesn't feel like true Hawaii and some people get very discouraged.
Maui- A lot of Hotels, beaches, restaurants. It has a lot of things to do, and is more of the secluded Hawaii you might be looking for. It is more built up then Kaui or the Big Island.
Kaui and Big Island- I have never been, but from what I know, they are absolutely breath taking. Not as much nitelife. I think these islands are more for site seeing, hiking, walking on secluded beaches. That sort of stuff. There is also the Volcanos on the big island.

Re: Hawaii Question?
I lived in Hawaii for a short time when my uncle was in the navy and stationed there. It is breathtaking. The different islands 'cater' to various people, so depending on what you like you can find just about anything. FM me if you want specific advice based on your interests (for example if you like nature, shopping, adventurous activities, etc.)
My favorite website ever for Hawaii is by Fodors because they give great overviews of the islands and LOTS of things to do if you click on the links on the left on EACH LINK.
Let me know if this helps and don't forget to click on the left links. ETA: Especially check out the TOP 5 REASONS TO GO links.
