Hawaii Questions - HELP

Hawaii Questions - HELP

I know a bunch of people have gone to Hawaii for their honeymoons, we are planning to go for our first anniversary in August.

My main question is: in Maui and Kuaui (which are the two main islands we want to go to) what areas did you stay in - meaning what town and hotel. Also, did you need a car on each island.
Finally, did you fly to Honolulu and then change planes or go straight to the island?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I want to have some basic info before I go to a travel agent. Thanks!!

Hi - We flew directly from San Francisco to Kauai, spent 4 nights there at the Hyatt (Piopu sp?) and then 6 nights on Maui at the Hyatt (K'annapali).

We had a rental car for each island and it's definitely needed. Everything is spread out, especially on Kauai and we wanted to come and go as we pleased

In Maui, I stayed in the Wailea area. It is quiet. Nice hotels, restaurants and beaches. I flew into Maui (stop-over in Dallas).

In Kauai, I stayed at the Hyatt and recommend it (I hear (from this site) there is construction coming up - I can't see them affecting guests or making it obvious though).

You will definitely want a rental car on both islands - to do any activities, for food, and just visiting the islands you will need to drive.

we flew to dallas then on to Honalolu( sp?) then on to Kauai. We stayed at the Hyatt in Kauai-- it was wonderful .... We did need a car on the island -- things are pretty far apart...

We then flew to Maui-- and stayed at the Kea Lani in Wailea.. I loved it ! It was so beautiful -- Waliea is a little more upscale-- there is a mall with Tiffanys, and all kinds of designers.... We also needed a car -- if you want to see all the waterfalls and stuff a car id the way to go ! Have fun ! I am jealous !!

Re: Hawaii Questions - HELP

We flew from Neward to Honolulu and took a connecting flight to Kauai, where we stayed for 5 days. We stayed at the Princeville Resort. It was absolutely beautiful. We did not rent a car on this island because everday we did an activitiy...such as hiking, horseback riding, tour bus, etc.

In Maui, we stayed at the Kapalua Bay. It was very nice but very secluded. We did rent a car on this island and did our own sightseeing.

Then we went to Honolulu and stayed in Oahu at the Royal Hawaiian. We rented a car and went to see Pearl Harbor and all the other historic sights.

Have a great time.
