My FH knows someone who wants to give us her RCI Gold Crown Timeshare in Hawaii. As soon as I heard of this, I was nervous because the last time I stayed at a timeshare place, I wished I hadn't! We had to do the dishes, make the beds, vacuum, clean up, etc... I always pictured my honeymoon to be romantic in Hawaii. Dinners on the beach, sleeping in a room with an ocean view. You know, LUXURY.
Has anyone ever used RCI Gold Crown Hawaii? Please help me out. It would definately save $$$$, but we always scrimp & save. I wanted our honeymoon to be all out luxury & romance. Are the Timeshares with RCI something that's HONEYMOON worthy??? Please respond. I've been crying for 45 minutes straight.

Re: Hawaii Timeshare?? RCI??? Someone hug me.
I think if you have had a bad experience with time shares..JUST DONT DO IT!!! you're right your honeymoon should be about relaxing and letting others take care of you after wedding. Enjoy it and spend!! you only ever get one honeymoon and the memories will last forever, you dont want to risk fighting over who will do dishes and make the bed...that can wait till you get home :)...dont try to save on the honeymoon, cut corners for other things, not this....have fun:)

I don't know anything about that resort specifically, but my father has RCI timeshare and when they are there for a week the housekeeper only comes in once during the week to change towels. All other cleaning is up to the people staying in the rooms. HTH.

I think generally the service in a timeshare is not expected to be luxury. I think you'd be happier in a hotel.

We are staying in a gold crown timeshare with RCI in Hawaii for part of our honeymoon. The other part we're staying at a few different Starwood Hotels.
We bought a timeshare recently, they suckered us in.
I've checked them out on the website and they look pretty nice, I believe you only get housekeeping service if you stay longer than 5 days.
My aunt works for the timeshare company that owns the Shell resorts and we've had family members stay there and they are beautiful.
Their website is www.rci.com, you can log on there and check out the gold crown resorts. Some of them are affiliated with big hotels.
