Hawaii- what two islands?

Hawaii- what two islands?

We are thinking of going to Hawaii and staying at two islands. What two do you recommend and why? We are thinking of staying at the Halekulani in Oahu, and then somewhere else, like Maui. Thoughts?

One of my best friends just got back from his honeymoon in Hawaii. They went to Maui and Kauai. He said that he would overwhelmingly recommend Kauai for a honeymoon when we were discussing it! He said it was the most romantic place they had ever been and that it was unbelievably beautiful! He said that Maui is good for the traditional Hawaii experience and is more resort-y and lots more people. But still very beautiful! HTH

we went to oahu, maui, the big island and kauai

i would definitely recommend kauai as 1 of the islands.

i personally was not a fan of the big island. if you have any interest in pearl harbor, then I would recommend oahu. maui, i could take it or leave it.

oahu and kauai!

there is so much to do on oahu, like the polynesian cultural center and tons of restaurants to try in one area.

on kauai you get the real hawaii experience, it's absolutely beautiful.

It depends what you're looking for:

Oahu is the most 'city-like' island. I personally don't feel like it offers a true Hawaiian experience BUT there's lots to do. You can experience all it has to offer in 2-3 days.

Kauai - the most lush, romantic island. It's one of my favorites. There's a lot of nature stuff to do but not much else. It's extremely relaxing.

Maui - my favorite island - the perfect combo of nothing and everything.

Big Island - worth it for the volcanoes but there's not much else there. (I haven't been there for several years so it could have changed).

Lanai - worth a day trip from Maui if you have the time but there is literally NOTHING on the island except 2 hotels and some gorgeous beaches.
