FH and I have already been to Hawaii and have done lots of stuff there. We are looking for different adventures for the HM. We are going to Oahu, Kauai and Maui.
Our only idea so far is to do the open-door helicopter tour. Also, we saw on the travel channel underwater scooters, but I can't find anything on them on the internet.
What is everybody else doing or what have you done?

Re: Hawaiian Adventures
We did the luau (I can totally recommend the Old Lahaina Luau on Maui).
Did the Road to Hana (it's beautiful but long).
Did a Sunset Sail.
But the ziplining thing intrigues me......I might look into that.

Re: Hawaiian Adventures
We went to Lanai last time. Rented a jeep and drove around the Garden of the Gods and Shipwreck Beach, etc. Then had lunch at the 4 Seasons and sat on the beach.
Have you been to Molokai? Do you know what there is to do there? I might investigate that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Hawaiian Adventures
I went to Maui in 05...road to Hana...we spent the night there. We also drove the NW coast. Took a helicopter trip...and went to lunch on the lavender farm.
On Kaui we did the ATV tour and a Napali coast sailing tour. We did the luau at Gaylords with the little train ride. The train was really fun actually! We saw lots of wild pigs...and the food was very good.

Re: Hawaiian Adventures
I know you can underwater scooter around the Turtle Reef in Maui, Maunalua Bay in Oahu and also do it in Honolulu. Check google.
We are planning a first time trip for August (our late honeymoon), three days on the Big Island (focusing on Volcano & Hilo) and eight on Kauia.
We'll probably be doing all the regular activities with some limitation for him with scuba and snorkeling (bad ears). I was wondering if anyone can give feedback and recommendations on rafting vs. sailing along the Napali Coast, flying an ultralight and horseback riding through Haleaka compared to other sights.
We've been researching using the books from Wizard Publications + their website.

Re: Hawaiian Adventures
FH and I flew ultralights last time we were in Kauai. If DH has ear problems, they may bother him. You go up pretty high, and especially the take off is not like a plane where it's gradual. It's more like one minute you're on the ground, the next you're over the mountains. It's awesome but a little bit scary. I held on very tight. FH loved it. We did it through Birds of Paradise (which I think is the one mentioned in the Kauai Revealed book). It was expensive but worth the money. The only advice I can give you is that they will try to sell you the video and still pictures. DON'T do it. The pictures were the worst quality and the video is awful. Unfortunately, you can't bring your own camera up, but it's still amazing. FH and I were just talking about possibly doing it again on the HM. He wants to do it, I'd rather try something new.....

How about the powered hanglider as a psuedo-compromise to the ultralight? Thanks!

Re: Hawaiian Adventures
Did most of you book your flights/packages via an agent or online? We were planning on doing it most ourselves but I would like to seriously consider an agent with alot of Hawaii experience. Any suggestions? TIA

Re: Hawaiian Adventures
that's what we did - the 'trikes' I think they called them. Like I said it was a lot of fun but scary. They even let you grab onto the wings to 'steer' the thing. FH was steering his, I wasn't - I let the pilot handle it and just held on for dear life. It was amazing flying over Waimea Canyon that way though and even though it was expensive, we were up for a long time.

Re: Hawaiian Adventures
We used a TA for the interisland flights, cars and hotels. For the flight to and from Hawaii we booked on our own using FF miles. We have stayed at the hotels we're using before so it was easy planning for us.
