Hawaiian Cruise

So FH and I have stumbled upon Hawaiian cruises. It seems like a great way to see Hawaii, but on half the budget since food is included. Although the excursions they offer are the same activities we would do if we went 'on our own', I'm concerned a day or two at each island won't be enough. Are we missing out on the true Hawaii Experience by cruising?
