My FH and I were calmly discussing how the wedding would flow from ceremony-cocktailhour-reception with the planned music. He, being a professional musician, was in charge of getting the band for the reception and whatnot. He freaked on me when I mentioned how we would walk in to the reception while we were introduced as Mr. & Mrs., standard I thought.
I wasn't completely clear about his freak out, but the best was when I said no way in hell was the band going to drag their equipment in and set up while our guests were already in the room for the reception. They could do it 10 minutes before, but that was it. Then he accused me of being a BRIDE(not bridezilla). I smiled at him and said that is exactly what I am, then proceeded to laugh so hard I fell off the couch.
How can he be so clueless? Are they all like this? I think I need to fire him. What do you think?

Re: He called me a bride!
I'm a professional musician--not in a band, but a violinist who has played her share of weddings. Any groups I have played with would never DREAM of setting up while guests are in the room. Most of the time, we're playing while guests are arriving. Again, I usually play ceremonies with small chamber groups, but it just doesn't look right.
A band needs to be set up well before the guests are in the room for the reception. It simply looks disorganized and unprofessional to set up while guests are arriving. They can take 10 minutes and set up during the CH--that's what the CH is for!!!!!!!

Re: He called me a bride!
Thank you!! I know when he does gigs many times they are required to be there incredibly early or are required to go only through certain entrances and it's frustrating. I really don't think I'm asking for a lot here and I don't care how professional and quiet they can set up, not while the guests are present. Really, it's his own wedding. Harumphhh.
I'm still quite surprised, but not backing down. Thanks again!
