head table

me and my fh are thinking about not having a head table or a sweet heart table. we would really like to sit with our parents and bridal party instead.
has anyone seen this? do you think its weird? we just dont like the idea of sitting on this pedestal while everyone glares at us eating.

Go for it! I've seen it before. But make sure whoever you're NOT sitting with can handle it. For instance, can both your parents sit at the same table with you? If you decide bridal party, can they all be at the table with you with their spouses? Because if you put their spouses at a different table, what's the difference of that or a dias? (Dais, how the heck do you spell that?)

From experience, make sure that whoever you sit with is even from both sides. Don't have 1 set of grandparents with you and the other at another table. Am I making sense? I'm tired and babbling.

My sister had a big U shaped table with the bridal party and their guest which was very nice.

I will say that it can be very hard for the date of a bridal party member if you only have the bridal party sit with you. I have been that date for several weddings and it really kinda stinks.

we are sitting in the middle and then the table next to us will be our parents :)

I agree. My cousin is having a dais with the BP and my FH will have to sit with my parents (I hope with my parents and not some random people!). Not a big deal, but I'm sure he would have more fun sitting with people his own age and my cousins. ALL of our cousins are in the BP so we will ALL be at the dais. He is already uncomfortable about the situation and the wedding is still a year away!

I think it is a great idea, as long as your numbers are right. Our BP is too big (with dates), so we are going with the dias because we could never pick who to sit with.

My sister made a small table of bride +groom, MOH, BM, and our dates. It was nice because it was small and intimate and made me feel special. Go with whatever works for you.

go for it!!
the only thing that I could see as a problem is that sometimes people line up to sw the bride and groom at your table. It may get too crowded for the people who are sitting at the table.

Re: head table

The way our room is set up, it allows us to do a sweetheart table, and then set up two tables on either side of us where we will seat the BP with their spouses. Kind of like a dais - but made up of three tables, so spouses of BP are not seated apart from one another.
