Headband or tiara..what exactly is the difference?

I am having a hard time with this..it may seem like a dumb question..but I truly dont know what I am doing. I had bought a tiara..it had pearls on it, etc.made of some type of metal..I bought it because in case I wanted to take my veil off.it ould stay in my hair..my hair will be down though..I have curly hair and just want it smooth and straight ..anyhow..the pearls were falling out so I returned it, but now when I look..I see Tiara's and headbands..are the headbands what I shoudl be wearing for when I take my veil off? The lady at the bridal salon is what sold me the tiara..i am just really confused..I also had tried a tiara on the other day and it really hurt my head..how does everyone order theirs online without trying it on? I hope someone can help me...I am very confused..any advice I will truly appreciate!!! Thanks!!!

A headband is like, well a headband.. it fits right onto your head.. a tiara stands up on top of your head, if you can understand that.. I would suggest that you go to a salon or store and try on as many as possible so that you get an idea..

i got a tiara to wear with my dress - it only goes across about 1/2 of my head, as opposed to a headband going from ear to ear. i plan of taking my veil off at some point during the reception and will wear just my tiara.

Thanks..I think what confuses me..is the Tiara that I bought, was a headband, went from ear to ear, but they were all calling it a tiara...thats what threw me off..I know it sounds stupid..I just didnt know the difference and I have a girlfriend who is also getting married and HATES tiara's, so when I was telling her about the pearls falling off..she was telling me that there is some huge difference between headbands and tiara's. I want to know because I am trying to find one similar to what I had before I returned it, and it looked more like a tiara..it didnt just sit on my head though..when I look at the headbands..what I had looks nothing like those. I am trying to find one very similar to what I had before and its been hard.because I may be looking in the wrong places!
