The Company DH works for is closing down in a few months, so I looked into adding him to my health insurance. Right now I have $100/month taken out of my paycheck for just me, but when I add him it will be $500/month. I'm curious what other people are paying or would be if they add their spouse.
I'm really hoping that he can find a new job quickly. It really sucks that if he's unemployed, our monthly expenses will go up so much. If anyone hears about an opening for a system admin (IT), let me know.

You should probably wait to research until the new health care exchanges come out next Tuesday. A lot of things are going to be changing in health care.

I pay $600 a month for my husband. It comes right of my paycheck in 2 payments of $300. He thinks it is a waste but god forbid something were to happen!

I would look into those health care exchanges. All these seem high. I pay $80 for me. To add fh will be $220 a month for us combined when we get married!

Wow, these do seem like a lot. I added FH as a domestic partner when he had a lapse in insurance and even then it was only like $220 a month. We'll definitely be using my insurance after we get married because it's better coverage. I don't know exactly what the cost will be, but sub-$100 for the 2 of us (for some reason $40 a paycheck is sticking in my head).

Mine will be $96 a paycheck when I add FH. My plan is cheaper and has better coverage. I get great rates because I work for a hospital.

Insurance rates are ridiculous. Just got a letter at the office stating that the insurance premiums are going up. My boss pays for my health insurance but still its crazy. I'll be adding myself to FH's policy since his union pays for it that way my boss will compensate me.

I work for a hospital, too. Cheap insurance is our consolation price for never being rich

Thanks for the reminder. We've been going back and forth about this. But the law can change everything...

Mine would be $100 a paycheck (is now 40 for just me) if I were allowed to add my spouse. I hope the new changes help this loophole :) then again my Wife's insurance at her new job could be better?

I guess I didn't realize how lucky I am before. I work for a company that I don't pay anything for my health insurance if I make under $50K (which i do, lol). And my dental and vision amount to about $15/paycheck. When FH is added, the dental/vision will go up, but the medical will still be free as long as I make under $50K.

I pay like $200 a month for me and I am going under FH insurance when we get married because he has better insurance and does not have to pay into it monthly.
