HEALTH INSURANCE GRIPE!

HEALTH INSURANCE GRIPE!

This year my company decided to raise our rates across the board - higher co-pays, higher out-of-pocket ... all to save themselves a little money. They wanted to focus on 'preventitive' heath care, yada yada, yada.

So I called them about traveling abroad and incoluations & such and they aren't even partially covered. I got so mad I told the customer service rep - so you'll treat my yellow fever if I get it but you won't help prevent it!

I know it's not her fault that my company didn't pick up that portion of the insuarnce but I'm just soo annoyed with the COST of health care this year!!!!

SO MUCH FOR FOCUSING ON PREVENTIVE HEALTH CARE!!

I went to the regular doctor, gynecologist and dentist last week - it was $80 in co-payments!

Thanks for letting me vent. I feel much better now!

IMO The Clintons royally F-ed the health care industry and we are still paying for it.

I think my boss pays close to $1100 a month at my job for his family plan.

Talk about expensive. My co-pays aren't great either.

I don't think this is entirely clinton's fault. The HMOs are notoriously known to be penny pinchers. They are crying foul saying they are paying out for too many claims... which they say is justification for raising their rates.

Insurance in general is a total scam IMO... those companies get away with murder.

I think the co-pays and deductibles are going up at my job too. And one of the great things about my job WAS the benefits.

Isn't that sad! It just pisses me off more and more. The out of pocket expense is just growing and growing!

Re: HEALTH INSURANCE GRIPE!

I hate , HATE to stick up for them but as I work for the largest NY health insurance company I have to....We get a million calls a month on why we dont cover innoculations and BTW..NO insurance companies do...And the reason is its not medical in nature...you CHOOSE to travel, basically ( right or wrong as it may be) In the insurance carriers mind , you ( if god forbid) you get something abroad, well you choose to risk yourself, we dont cover you choosing a risk....

Now as far as the costs going up...it would AMAZE you at how little revenue the health insurance companies actually make...
Next time you are in your your Dr's office, time it, for real, down to the minute that you spend with JUST your dr and then ask them why they charge what they do...The going rate for Dr's charges are at about $150-$260...for on average 8 minutes ( based on polls taken by the insurance companies) ...

Now yes we pay very very little to them, maybe $65-$100 for those charges but for 8 minutes? And ask the Drug manufaturer why the medications like antibiotics are over $200 for 14 days and it costs all of 65 CENTS to make....

My point of this endless blabbing is that something needs to be done, so with the election coming up what better time to realize who really is doing the harm and see that healthcare reform is needed NOW...
