Re: Health Tips

Everything in v8 fusion is natural (all fruits and vegegatbles), so in that sense it is good. On the other hand, it does not make up for the servings of fruits and vegetables that youre supposed to eat because there is no fiber in v8 fusion. Fiber is where most of the nutritional value (vitamins and minerals) of fruits and vegetables is.

So the answer is: If you are going to drink either apple/orange juice/soda OR v8 fusion, go with the v8 fusion. But if you are asking if you can drink v8 fusion INSTEAD of eating your servings of fruits and vegetables, the answer is no.

Tip Number Five:

Calories are not created equal.

You’re right, the number of calories in a piece of pizza equals the number of calories in a sandwich on whole wheat bread filled to the brim with turkey, lettuce, and tomatoes, five apples, three carrot sticks, and a cup of minestrone soup…so that means that eating those two meals (not that I would consider one slice of pizza a meal) is the same, right? Wrong.

Calories are not created equal. Let’s break pizza down: dough (simple carb/not whole grain), cheese (fat and protein, but essentially fat), and sauce (kind of a vegetable, but not really). Now let’s break the second meal down: whole wheat bread (complex carb/whole grain), turkey (lean protein), lettuce and tomato (vegetables), apples (fruits), carrot sticks (vegetables).

The second option covers every food group, while the pizza is essentially white bread and fat. The second meal is nutritious and stuffed with essential vitamins, while the pizza has minimal nutritional value.

The moral: it is all about the right combinations of foods, not about calorie counting.

But, to make an even bigger impact, because option two will be more filling, you will probably not eat everything there; therefore you will intake less calories in addition to taking in a more nutritious, balanced, perfectly combined meal.

Those must be some small apples! I have to ask - you're saying that one slice is calorie equivalent to the sandwich and the 5 apples and the carrot sticks and the soup? I'm befuddled...isn't the average apple around 80 calories Itotaling 400 for 5 of them) whereas an average slice of pizza could be between 230-300 calories? That's not even counting the sandwich, soup, and carrots...

You have me intrigued

Re: Health Tips

I didnt calculate the exact calorie count. It was just an example. But actually, its pretty accurate. I based it off a an AMAZING book that is of similar concept. 'Picture Perfect Weight Loss' by Dr. Howard Shapiro. Site I found it very helpful. If anyone would like to borrow it, I live in nassau. Just fm me!

The main point of the post was that dieting is mainly about the way in which you combine foods (carbs, fat, protein) and less about calorie count. Just because you take in less calories than you use DOESNT mean you will lose weight. In order to lose weight (successfully), you need to burn off unwanted fat. The only way to do this is to combine foods properly. You will lose weight the other way but you will burn off a combination of fat and muscle. The last thing you want to do is burn off muscle because this will slow your metabolism.

Hope this was a helpful explanation of what I was getting at in the last post. I read it over again and it was pretty unclear. Sorry about that ladies.
