I was soooooo angry today. We had been calling the Huntington Country Inn since August trying to reserve a block of rooms for OOT guests. We wanted it because it is merely blocks away from the Townhouse. They kept saying that they couldn't reserve yet because they didn't have the prices yet for April and I should call after Nov 1. I was in Florida on Nov 1, so I didn't get to call them til today. Guess what??? They were too booked already!!!! They couldn't give me a block of 20 rooms like we think we will need. I flipped. I told the guy that it was ridiculous. I never cared about the price... I just wanted to reserve regardless. So now I lost the place. I came home from work and scoured the internet for other reasonably priced places nearby. I don't want guests to have to do alot of traveling that day. I finally got a good price from Howard Johnson's in Westbury. Has anyone ever seen this place? Is it nice? Or does it look like a roach motel? We will check it out this weekend but if I can get opinions from you, I would appreciate it.

Re: Heidi's Hotel Horror -- had to vent a little
I've not been to the HoJo's in Westbury, but if it helps we are also getting married in Huntington (at the Harbor club) and decided to book the Wingate Inn in Garden City.
We also looked at: Executive Best Western on Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury. They were great, but did not have enough room sofr all of us (I did this a little late.)
Fox Hollow Inn: very expensive and relatively small rooms, also the staff was a bit rude to us.
The Andrew in Great Neck: I actually liked this one the best, but thought it might be too hard for the OOT guests to get to (it is in the village of great neck.)
Garden City Hotel: We liked it, it was a little pricey but gorgeous... they were already booked (we are getting married the week after New Years.) Good Luck!

Thanks, babe, but I think I'll pass. Everything happens for a reason, right? Maybe it will turn out that wherever we wind up will be even nicer than the Inn.
