Helen's Bridal Center - yay/nay?

I am pretty sure I'm going to order my dress at Helen's Bridal Center in Commack. Just wondering if anyone's had experiences with them, good or bad? Also, how are their alterations? Good?

Thanks!

Re: Helen's Bridal Center - yay/nay?

I went to Helen's Bridal in Commack for her Bonny Bridal trunk show last Saturday just to really start looking for my wedding dress. I worked with Liz who was awesome. I ended up buying a Maggie Sottero dress from there in less than an hour and a half...

Liz was Great!!! We heard the staff laughing and having a great time from the second we walked into the store. They are located inside of Wedding World (which I did not know when I walked in and at the time wasn't happy about) but she was helpful and knew exactly what I was looking for. She suggested another dress(the one I ended up buying) after one of the Bonny dresses made me feel too much like Jessica Rabbit. I tried it on and the image of my wedding day popped into my head.. It was everything i wanted my dress to be... classy, elegant, different and I won't end up hating it in 20 years!!!!

The best part.... The dress wasn't supposed to be discounted until the end of July when the Maggie Sottero trunk show was going to be held but Liz took care of me anyway so I didn't have to come back. Not only did she give me the 10% discount but they also had a store coupon for $100.00 off !!!! After the discounts plus shipping fees and tax the total was only $835 before alterations. Liza also capped the alterations at $99 for the bustle (up to 9 points) and the hem at $175.00. Basic alterations were capped at $295.00.. Liz went through sizing with me and because Maggie's dress have the bras built into the dress and is a corset back (which can just be pulled tighter)I probably won't need many alterations, just the hem and bustle!!!.. Not having to buy a new bra just for the wedding dress and not needing a slip underneath saves a ton of money!!
I couldn't believe I was going to get my dress at the first real store I went to but it was everything I wanted... Definitely give Helen's a try!!!!!

I've been there twice and ordered my dress the second time that I was there. Both times that I went I did not have an appointment, yet both of the peole that helped me were so patient and attentive. I never felt rushed.

I don't know how their alterations are because my dress did not come in yet although I do not think I will need to get my dress altered.

So, YAYYYYYY for Helen's Bridal!!

Make sure you shop around on price. Helen's doesn't always have the lowest price, but they have been known to match prices.

I went to Helens b/c I had gotten my prom dresses there back in high school. I had worked with Tula then and she was there to help me for my wedding dress as well. Tula was really helpful throughout the process. I ended up buying the first dress I tried on. My dress should be coming in within the next two months.

For BM dresses I worked with Ashley. My girls (and myself) love her. She is so honest and helpful. She is so much fun to work with. I highly recommend working with her.

I can't say anything about alterations yet since I haven't gotten the dresses yet.

Good Luck! FM if you have any questions. I've spent alot of time at Helens over the past few months.

I have to agree. Ashley is a sweetheart! She is very down to earth and not pushy at all. I felt completely comfortable stripping down in front of her so she could help me with my dress, lol. Tula is also very patient and kind. I 100% recommend Helen's Bridal!!!!
