Hi! I'm Anna, and in a few weeks I'm moving from the Philadelphia area to Flushing, which is near where my FI works. We are having a beach wedding near Tampa in December. While web-surfing I found this message board. Perfect timing! Hello to my new neighbors!!
Okay, now that I've introduced myself, I will confess I've been STRESSING lately about two issues:
1. I'm unsure about what shoes to wear . Even though we are having an informal beach wedding, our reception is indoors, and I'm wondering what sort of shoes would be appropriate for dancing. Going barefoot seems inappropriate when not at the beach (or at home lol).
2. I'm REALLY stressed about finding a bra for my dress (below). What bra style would work best? My seamstress tried bra cups, but they showed lines and didn't seem to provide a lot of additional support, so she removed them and told me to look for a bra. I don't know where to begin. I'm a 32C or 32D. I think my options are either a longline bustier or stick-ons. I'm thinking that I probably want a bustier because I really do need some support, but I'm not sure.
Since my wedding is so far away, I haven't begun looking at shoes or undergarments but I'm sure that the more experienced ladies here will have some great advice for you!
I'll let you know if I see anything that might be helpful to ya! Good luck with your big move and with planning!

Re: Hello!! And two issues I need help with...
I had the same issue with my dress, (pic below, hopefully, alward pose, I know!) I ended up doing the cups which don't offer much support but with the low back there is not much choice. I never did go to one the custom bra places though so maybe they are worth checking out. I was told with my dress the boning in the ong line would have shown through Something I really didn't think about when I ordered the dress as extra support is always a good thing! I think there are some of those stores in Hicksville & Lynbrooke? Good luck, love the dress! As for the shoes maybe just a 'fancy' pair of flip flops?
Go flip-flops all the way! Why not? It's your wedding, and you don't want to miss out any dances due to blisters or sore toes. Your dress will likely cover your feet while you're standing, right? Go comfy! (but not barefoot! I'm thinking some spilled drink + hardwood dance floor + bare feet = disaster for you)
Oh, and congratulations and good luck with the move!

Flip flops or sandals may work. I went looking for a bra at Blum's in Patchogue. I tried it on and it was okay. I went to the bridal store and didn't like the way it looked. If you purchase from them the day of the fitting you can return it (as long as it is the same day). I spend $100 and got it all back. They are going to sew cups into my dress instead.

for the shoes i would wear flipflops.
as for your bra issue...i would take a picture of your dress to and go to a place like Georgettes or Bra Tenders, they'll be able to point you in the right direction

I think a long line bra would show through the dress.
I thought about a 'convertible bra.... but since you don't have an alter top or straps so... cups might the best!

Welcome!!!!
Not sure if this will help, but when I was gown searching I checked out bridesave.com and houseofbrides.com and one of those websites suggested a bra for my gown. It was a bra I didn't even know existed, so it's worth a shot. Then I found the bra at Blums in Patchogue. (I don't suggest buying anything from house of brides because a bunch of us had bad experiences with them. They are a good tool to look for things, but not buy.)

How about a shoe like this one? It incorporates the flip flop but it's satin with shimmery details. (by Dyeables)
Hi and welcome...try bring it ups, Victorias Secret sells them. They work great!

My dress is made of similar fabric and a similar style, but has another lining so the long line bra didnt show through. I think the problem with your dress may be that the back is so low and a long line bra wouldnt be low enough in the back. I would try to go with self-adhesive cups. As for shoes, you could get white platform flip flops and wear them for the ceremony and out regular shoes on at the reception or wear the platforms for dancing.
The shoe suggestions are terrific...I hadn't seen 'platform' flip flops before...I would want to go either barefoot or wear a flat-heeled shoe for the ceremony, I think. For the reception I think I want what looks good and feels comfy.
As for the bra, I think I've seen some longline bras that dip down in the back rather than go straight across. That's what I was thinking of when I listed longline bras as an option.
Keep the ideas coming!! Thanks.

A couple of items:
1. Someone mentioned bridesave.com. It appears that bridesave is now CLOSED!!! Hopefully anyone who has outstanding orders will get their money back.
