Hello Everyone and RH help! :)

Hi everyone!

(I also just posted this in brides helping brides; so sorry if you're reading this for a 2nd time)

Anyway, It's nice to meet you all! This is actually my first post (my fiance and I got engaged this past Saturday) so I'm sure I'll be here a lot between now and next November!

My fiance (oops! almost wrote boyfriend lol) and I are thinking of places in the fall- we don't want your typical catering hall- want more warmth/ charm. We are paying for the wedding ourselves so it's going to be between 125 and 150 people tops (probably closer to 125) and looking to pay 60-80 pp. Some of the places we're considering (on a Friday night) are:

Milleridge Cottage
Smithtown Landing
Timbre Point
Westbury Manor
Fox Hollow
Bayview House

I would have included the Rivera by fiance doesn't like the layout.

Anyway... are there any other RHs that kind of fit that style in that price range AND out of all of those RHs, are there any that DO NOT let you bring in your own centerpieces/ cake or use your own vendors? (my best friend is a highly established cake decorator and is doing our wedding cake free as a gift for us; also my aunt is a florist and will being doing our centerpieces; we know people in a wedding band who will most likely cut us a deal... any place that says we HAVE to use their vendors are out). Do any of those places penalize you for using your own vendors?

Thanks for all of your help and looking forward to getting to know all of you over the next year or so! :)

Fox Hollow! Fox Hollow! Fox Hollow! Food is amazing (and they will work with you if you're looking for something that they don't have listed) and you don't have to use their vendors

The inn at new Hyde park is so beautiful and doesn't look typical. My sister got married there and it was gorgeous, you don't feel like your on LI when you walk in.

Congrats!!!! Try The Chateau Briand! They're the same owners as fox hollow and very very well priced! We are paying for the weddings ourselves as well and were very happy with them =)

The places that you picked to look at so far fit your budget and what you want for a RH Also check out Westbury Manor. I went there and it definitely isn't your typical RH. Has that intimate feeling. About the vendors the places that you have chosen to look at don't penalize you for using your own vendors Actually you are better off doing that since if you use a house vendor the reception hall gets a kick back and charges you more! Just a FYI. Good luck and if you need any help you can always contact me on here! Also welcome to the site!

Congrats and welcome!

I never went to visit any of those halls so I cam't help much on that end. But to stay in your budget you are def on the right track by choosing a Fri instead of a more expensive Sat as well as Nov which is off peak season.

I think most halls will let u use outside vendors but they will need to have insurance.

Aww thank you for the warm welcome everyone!!!! Congrats to all of you too! I'm looking forward to hearing all of your plans too over the next few months!

Anyway, I'll definitely look into all of your suggestions and will keep you updated as we start narrowing things down and will post reviews as I start going to these places.

Also, thanks for the info about insurance- as far as I know my friend has insurance (she's done two other weddings on the island here and she works at a bakery where she lives) and thanks for the heads up about them charging more for some of those vendors. Ah so much to learn but it's SO exciting! :)
