I would look at more places. Although you may end up settling on your first choice. Get the Wedding pages magazine, or look on there website, that's where I got a lot of places from. There are a ton in Nassau county.
If you do settle on the eastern suffolk location, I would charter a bus, or maybe hire a freind of the family or a friend of a friend (someon who is not coming to the wedding) and rent a van or something. There are other options to a bus. It doesn't have to be luxurious. Hey, if they were driving themselves it would be in a car.
Good luck

HELP
Hi there. I think $1000 for a bus to LI is a lot of $$. I booked a bus to drive from NYC to Nantucket (about 7 hours) for a film and it cost $1000. I used Executive Motor Tours/Holiday Transportation 800.354.1807 Check them out, they may have better rates. We're having our reception at the Milleridge and 90% of our guests are not from LI. (I looked in NYC, but we just couldn't swing it - we're doing a Sunday AM for 60/pp) Everyone is handling their own transpo. People, especially family, won't not come becasue its out of the way for them. Give them a chance. Maybe you could spread the word via inlaws to be and see what the reaction is, if people won't come becasue of the distance, then consider a bus, or vans, otherwise you should be ok, its not that far from NYC.
PS> I also have a good place to rent 15 pass vans or minivans, reasonable rates & unlimited milage, plus you can pick up & drop off 24hrs/day - Courier Car Rental in NYC 212.239.3333 (I've been using them for the last three years for movies & music videos and have never had a problem. I've even call them with 1/2 hour advance notice & they have vehicles. You can open up an account with them and to get reduced rates) Good Luck.
