I am getting my dress from Brooklyn, and I live way too far away to have my alterations and fittings done there, anyone that can give me any advice where I can go for the alterations? It doesn't help that they charge 200, without bustle. I have went to most bridal stores on long island, they will not do alterations on a dress not purchased from them.
You have to look for a seamstress that maybe works independently(not a bridal salon). Do a search on here for seamstresses. I know that a few girls have had the same problem and posted on here. I just can't remember the name of the seamstress.....
I had my wedding gown alterations done at the bridal shop where my BM got their dresses. I don't know what area you are looking in. I had mine done at Cathy's in Lindenhurst and I didn't buy my dress there.

If you are at all near Long Beach .....Aida's Fashion in Island Park across from the lirr...did an amazing job on my dress. She is on Long Beach Road,...cost me $160 bustle included..... She is Hispanic, so her English is limited but she did wonders.
I am on the north shore of Long Island, by Stony Brook University. The place where I got my BM dresses woun't do it. And the only one lady that does bridal alterations that I found is telling me she has to see the dresses, but then if I take the dress from brooklyn, and she sais she can't help me what then? I bring it all the way back, they might not allow me to do it. :o(
i used anys dress hop in roslyn she made me my coat to go ver my dress and it was beautiful
