Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No. I don't think anyone has any expectations about the rehearsal dinner. It should be a time to relax and spend quality time with family and close friends since you'll be running around a lot on the wedding day. We've been to dinners the night before weddings which consisted of pizza and sandwiches. I thought it was a nice way for people to meet before the wedding and didn't think any less of them because it wasn't at a restaurant or a sit down meal.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Buffet sounds great! it's a great way for people to mingle and learn common interest with each other before the wedding.
You're better than me, I am not even having one. Can't afford it but I cover it up by saying 'you need a rehersal to eat???' lol: I am just taking out my couple of out-of-towners to brunch the day before so they can spend the rest of the day shopping in Manhattan and relax before the big day.

No, I think it's a great idea! Enough planning and money is spent on the wedding, buffet will allow everyone to relax!

I don't think a buffet is cheesy at all! I think it is a great idea. It can be as formal or casual as you want it to be. And you won't be breaking the bank.
