Help!!!

I just got engaged recently & I am so stressed. How did you decide the reception/location is the 'right' one...Where are you having your reception?

its very stressful! more than i ever thought it would be ! i think it gets harder after you find the Reception hall- but don't worry u just need to keep calm and organized and try not to get too many opinions because it will drive u nuts.

start by googling new york or long island reception halls. make a list of places just by looking on the website if u are interested or not. from that list come here and go to 'search' on top of website above the quick navigation thing and search each reception hall you liked-read reviews and other posts about them- this will start to narrow it down.

then make a list of places u actually want to waste time visiting. call them, make appointments. i would map them out before calling and see what is close to each other so u can make more than one appointments on the same day of places nearby each other.

YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU FIND IT. i went to Jericho terrace first (and pretty much knew it then but how can i if its the first and only one you know? sooo i kept going) and then saw 5 more and was like no way and went back to Jericho terrace to book within 3 weeks. GOOD LUCK! : )

Exactly what she said...... You can also look under the planing section of this site and it will allow you to narrow your search down based on your needs... remember that prices vary a lot

http://www.weddingsitesandservices.com/

here's a good starting point

just think about what kind of wedding you and fh want...like what's your style

beach, water, garden/park, city, hamptons and wineries, mansion etc.

also think about the size of your wedding...do u want something big and elaborate with like 300 guests or something intimate and cozy with like 100 guests.

and then visit each place and ull either love it or know its not for u...it helps to see how the ppl treat you and the rh and what they offer u.

good luck!

You can use LIW too!

Just go look at something. You will see what you like and don't like about a place and you will learn somthing every time you go see a different place.

For us, when we walked into one of the rooms in the Crest Hollow we juust knew. He liked one room and I liked another so we had to talk that part out but in the end it all worked out.

You will find it, don't worry! Good luck!

Yeah I think the guest list will be the first thing, ow mant ppl can the hall you want hold. Then water, garden features. READ reviews if you can. Everyone here is honest about their day. Word of mouth was the direction we went. EIther weddings we have attended, friends who used certain vendors. Also if you have a certain date in mind find out if the hall is acailable that day. God luck, just like the rest of us, with a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears you'll get there!
