I need help. I am about to book the venetian yacht club but I am torn. We want to have my ceremony on site and there you can only do it during the day. How do you girls feel about a day wedding vs night time? The ceremony would be at 1230, it seems so early. Help I need opinions...

Re: Help
Well if it's a Sunday, then I'd say do it during the afternoon - it gives guests time to get home at a decent hour and not be so tired the next day for work.
But if it's a Saturday - go for the night time. I'm not a huge fan of afternoon weddings, and for my friend's wedding which was at noon on a Saturday, it was a bit of a process. We had to be at her place with hair and makeup done by 8am, because she wanted all pics taken before the ceremony at noon. There were no places open to do the hair/makeup, and the person she had coming to her house was a bit pricey, and the BMs did not want to pay that. So we all ended up doing our own hair/makeup. By the end of the wedding, it was 5:30pm, we were all wasted, and it was like ok what do we do now, it was a little too early to go out for Saturday night. So we ended up going home. It kind of killed the rest of our Sat night.
I'm not saying a Sat afternoon is the most horrible wedding option. I mean any wedding I go to, whether it's a Fri, Sat or Sun, and no matter what time, I always have fun. But personally I prefer weddings at night,

Re: Help
That is the latest and she did me a favor by pushing it back 1/2 hr thats the best she could do. I just feel like a 1:00 cocktail hr and 2:00 dinner is so early. I am worried my guests wont be dancing.

Re: Help
i have a similar dilemma ... but the fact that my wedding is on a sunday, i wanted to make sure that people get to enjoy themselves without having to worry about leaving early for work the next day. as long as u get a great dj u dont have to worry about people dancing..

Re: Help
i'm having an afternoon wedding... in fact, it's starting much earlier than yours. i think there are tons of advantages of the afternoon wedding, including being able to fully enjoy the grounds in the sunlight and having the after party, of course! although i've never been to a daytime wedding, i'm sure it will have a different 'feel' than nighttime ones, but I think once the drinks start getting passed around, my family and friends won't know the difference

Re: Help
I'm doing a Sat. afternoon wedding mostly to cut costs. My theory is: For an afternoon wedding people will have a small breakfast and not much else becuase they're STARVING. So they'll be hungry..I would be!!
we're going to have an afterparty at a hotel since we're ending at 6PM.

Re: Help
I am havign a day wedding and am just as excited about it as a night wedding. After the 6 p.m. reception we're planning and afetr party at the hotel so it is a day and night affair- best of both worlds

Re: Help
We had a 12:30 wedding on a Saturday at VYC. Don't worry about a thing...people ate a lot and dancing wasn't a problem either. During the day was really nice because people really got to enjoy the view ,and the kids loved watching the boats.
I did have to get up pretty early to start getting ready (5 AM). I had my first BM come at 6:30, then half hour intervals after that. We were all done and taking pictures at the house at 8:30. We left at 9:00 to take some pics with DH and the guys and were at VYC at 10:45 or so.
I was a little hesitant on doing it that early but everything worked out perfectly!
