How did/are you girls wording your invites if the FIL's are not contributing to the wedding. I want to just put my parents name on the invitation but my mother says I should put theirs on it as well. Please post some options for me.
Thanks

Re: Help...
I agree, I think you have to do both or none.... It's like screaming out to everyone that your parents contributed and his didn't, IMO

Re: Help...
We're doing something along the lines of....
Together with their parents Bride's name and Groom's name etc.

Re: Help...
I agree... its both or none. Put your parents names on top and then write request the honor of your presence at the wedding or their daughter... to (FH) so of (his parents)

Re: Help...
You can put the son of .... line on the invitation if they are not contributing, but you shouldn't put their name at the top. The names at the top are the hosts of the wedding (so its the people contributing to the wedding).

Re: Help...
My parents paid for 90% of the wedding (DH and I paid for the other 10%). DH's parents did not contribute to the wedding but they raised him, put him through school and graduate school, and love/support him. He is very close to them and we thought these were reasons enough to have his parents name on the invitation.
Our was: Jane and John Doe together with Sarah and Michael Smith request the honor of your presence at the wedding ceremony of their children
Me and Him
The RSVP envelopes went just to my parents so people knew they were the hosts. Also, at the reception, we had the DJ call in his family first and then my family so it was even more obvious that they were the hosts since they were last.
If your FH is close to his parents and he thinks they did a lot for him, then you could have their names under his name (son of Mr. and Mrs...) instead of at the top of it.

Re: Help...
hmmmm... I would honestly just put my parents.
I once got an invite that only listed the Grooms parents. So it went:
Mr & Mr. Smith invite you to celebrate as their son John Smith
Blah blah blah

Re: Help...
Mine was worded like this:
Mr. & Mrs. ________________ invite you to witness the marriage of their daughter Michele _______________ to Patrick _______________ son of Mr. & Mrs. ______________________.

Re: Help...
I went ahead and put both parents' names on the invite even though FIL's aren't contributing. I know it's probably not proper etiquette but FH's family has gone through a lot this past year (family death, FMIL is very ill) and I thought it would make his family happy to see their names on it.
I think that today you can do whatever you want with these types of things.

Re: Help...
We did not add his parents' names because they didn't contribute anything to the wedding. I wanted it to be clear that my parents, as well as FH and I, are paying for the wedding. He is also not close with them, though. If he was close with them we probably would have added them under his name.

Re: Help...
I was only planning on putting my parents, maybe I should change that.

Re: Help...
Basically, if both parents are paying then both parents should be stated as 'inviting' on the invitation...
Jane and John Doe together with Sarah and Michael Smith request the honor of your presence at the wedding ceremony of their children
Me and Him
If the bride's parents are paying, but you still want to mention the groom's family, then you'd use...
Mr & Mrs (my parents names) request your presence at the marriage of their daughter Maggie to Joseph son of (his parents names)
