I know I haven't been on in a while but things have been kind of hectic. Anyway, I need some advice. There is a woman I did a hair trial with and she was actually the only trial I had done. She did a good job but I wasn't crazy about how she styled my hair, but I figured she was good enough that we could keep trying until I found my wedding day look. I didn't have the money that day to give her a deposit so I told her I would mail it. Let's just say that it took me 2 weeks to mail that check. That's how busy I've been. I told her I would mail it this past Thurs. and the check didn't get mailed until Sunday night. Now the check is in the mail but she left me a message on my answering machine that made me really angry and now I don't know if I want to go with her. She said, ' I've never had this happen, you better get that check to me by the end of today no matter what you have to do.' I did not sign any contracts with her yet and I can still call the bank to cancel the check. I thought her attitude and her comment was not only disrespectful but I felt it was unprofessional and it made me upset. What should I do? Should I cancel the check with the bank and look for someone else? Or give her the benefit of the doubt since it took me so long to mail the check (which was not my intention.) It's not like she lives close to me and I could drop it off. What would you do?

Re: HELP!!!!
I wouldn't cancel because doesn't it cost them a fee or something or is that just for bounced checks?
I would talk to her and tell her how she made you feel. But I don't think I'd want to use her. You can keep looking and just absorb the cost of the deposit but I'd find someone else ASAP and let her know ASAP that you're not using her, so she's not holding your date and missing out business.

Re: HELP!!!!
I would cancel. You didn't book her, so why is she so angry? I couldn't even imagine booking someone so rude for the wedding. It's not like you loved her.. and then she gives you an attitude? It costs like $15 to cancel a check, but the price seems worth it. JMO

Re: HELP!!!!
'I will no longer be able to hold your date open for you without a deposit' ... not hard to say on a voicemail
'You better send that check' ... are you kidding me??
I'm sorry, but this chick leaving you a message like that is not only disrespectful, its VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!
I wouldn't give her the business ...

Re: HELP!!!!
As much as I should I would rather not say because she is a vendor on here and she was referred by a friend of mine who is doing my makeup, who is also a vendor on here. I'm not trying to ruin anyone's business, I'm just trying to get advice. The makeup person I highly recommend!

Re: HELP!!!!
Tell her why you will no longer be using her, and then cancel the check. There's no fee, they just won't be able to cash it! You don't need added stress!

Re: HELP!!!!
Thank you everyone! I called her and left her a message on her voicemail and went online and stopped payment on the check.

Re: HELP!!!!
I think you made the right choice, I would have done the same thing. That behavior is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. I hope she sees this and realizes why she lost a customer!

I'm glad you cancelled too. I think it would have been awkward on the day of your wedding and anyone that rude doesn't deserve your money.

Re: HELP!!!!
You definately made the right choice. You're paying her to work for you not for her to be a beyotch.

ITA>. It usually costs $25 to cancel a check. I would call her and tell her (politely... don't make yourself wrong in this situation) you have already sent the check out and apologize for the delay. I would then say, 'after careful consideration I do not think that we would be a match for my wedding day. It's going to be the most important day of my life and I want it to go smoothly and stress free. Consequently, I have since canceled the check I have sent you and will be looking for another stylist'
Honestly, if her work is just satisfactory and are attitude is crap, then say goodbye!!!
