Hi everyone! DH and I have been ttc for a couple months now. AF is due tomorrow or Sunday, and being the impatient person that I am, I took a First Response test this morning. There were definately 2 lines there, but one was much fainter than the other - barely there, but still definately a line!!! I could not believe it Now I am scared that this is somehow false!! My question is: Has anyone ever gotten a false positive? I will be SO disappointed if it is not for real...

I didn't get a false positive, but my line was *very* faint when I first took the pregnancy test. It should get darker with in two days...

There is a digital pregnancy test that is new from Clear Blue Easy(I believe). I used that to comfirm my pregnancy. There aren't any lines. It just says pregnant or not pregnant. Good luck. I do believe a line is a line !!!

Sounds like you are pregnant! Congratulations. the line is often faint in the first few days because the HcG levels are not very high and that is what it is looking for. They should double every day I believe so if you test again in a week or so it will probably come up darker. Congrats again!

Yup, sounds pregnant to me too. I took 3 tests, all were very faint lines since I took them earlier that told. Make an appt. for the dr. and let us know...

That happend to me.. remember there is no such thing as a false positive.. i would call teh Dr and make an appt...

You COULD be pregnant, but there is such a thing as a false positive.
I remember someone posting about it awhile ago here. Can't remember who it was though. It was a faint line for a few days and then no line. The doctor's called it a 'phantom pregnancy' or a chemical pregnancy. It's when the egg gets fertilized and your body automatically starts producing the hormone that says your pregnant, enough so to get that faint line...but then the fertilized egg never implants.
If I were you I'd test again in a day or two to see if the line gets darker because for now, there's definately the possibility that you are pregnant. And then make an appt. with your doctor.

They do say a line is a line but I would test again in a couple of days. A couple of months ago, I had exactly what Susans described happen to me. The hpt showed a faint second line but a few days after I tested my AF showed. The Dr. said it was a chemical pregnancy but it doesn't happen often. More times than not a faint line does indeed mean you're pregnant. Good Luck to you and keep us informed
the 26th!? that is crazy...you should call them back and say you are pretty sure you might be pregnant and would like to start prenatal vitamins and all that if you are - can you please come in for a blood test. I mean - that is over a week away.

OK - I called the Dr. back and I am going today at 3:15!! How long do blood test results take?? AAGGHH - I want to know for sure NOW!!

They will give you a pee test and take blood and let you know your due date
