I workout every other day and my knees and elbows crack. Went to the orthopedic Dr. For my knees and he took all sorts of test. He said some people just have noisy bones. I don't there is anything to worry about just give yourself rest days in between workouts.

if you have been active for a long time, there is a common condition where the cartlige starts to breakdown, so the cracking is the two bones grinding against eachother. many people do have this condition. if its not taken care of, it can lead to other problems.

i work out about 3 times a week (tues, thurs and either sat or sun). there are certain exercises i hate to do b/c i know i will hear the bone cracking. for example, when i do situps and i move my legs in a bicycle motion, my hips always crack. everytime. so it makes doing that exercise very aversive to me. i know there are other exercises i can do to get the same results. i actually am going to be working with a personal trainer for the next 2 months, to get in shape more for the wedding. and i have to go to the doctor anyway for a physical, but i was just hoping maybe someone on here had some sage advice. :)

maybe you need some glucosimine chondritin. I am not sure fo I spelled it OK, but BIL works out a lot & he was having the same problem with his hips & knees...the Doc said it was a mild but constant breakdown of the cartiledge & this stuff si suppose to help prevent or even rebuild. They also give it to people who have joint discomfort, but not arthritis...you can get it in GNC or VitaminShoppe.

Assuming that you are having the same problem, it may help....but if you are arthritic I would def. see a Dr.
