HELP! Anyone know anything about rock climbing or SCUBA?
Does anyone know what type of rock climbing shoes are good quality? Or what SCUBA gear brands are good quality?
I'm trying to figure out something unique to buy FH for the wedding since he owns a watch and cufflinks. So I would REALLY appreciate if you have any ideas on brands. TIA!

I know about climbing stuff but do you know his size in climbing shoes? They are very close fitting to your foot and different styles are good for different types of feet--it's something you really need to try on. EMS is a good place to look for these, but unless you know what style of shoe he likes I wouldn't buy them--maybe a gift card and something about what you intend it for?

I know he wants the pointed toe shoes, not the rounded ones. I can find out his exact shoe size for the climbing from his roomie. You do bring up a really good point about needing to try them on himself though... hmmm I might have to think of something else because I don't really want to give him a gift card.

Does he have a harness and other gear? That stuff could be a good gift too and isn't as specific, as long as you know what type he likes which it sounds like his friend might be able to tell you--those run more like S M L, so much easier. you could get the harness, a belay device, and some carabiners

I have a pair of Mad Rock and I love it. You can also try Five Ten. Evolve makes nice men's shoes and they are more affordable than the other two.

Both DH and I prefer velcro shoes. Easy on, easy off! Shoe laces are just a hassle. I'm not sure what your FH will like. You can get him a harness, carabiners, rope, chalk & chalk bag, tape or crash pad if he's into bouldering.

Haha... this is more complex then I thought it would be. That's good though. Atleast I know what to listen for and ask when he talks about his class. Thank you so much ladies!!!

He takes it at the US Military Academy. They have to take a 'lifetime sport' like golf, climbing, etc.
