HELP! Anyone writing a college thesis (undergrad or grad)

Do you have to write everything in chapters/sections? For example...if you have an aspect of your paper that is devotes to nuerology, does that go under a seperate heading? No one gives us any info?

I think you should ask your advisor. Requiremnts differ by school, degree, topic, etc

Mine too, and my grad one as well...

ETA: They weren't called chapters in the Introduction, but rather sections...

Thank you so much! We aren't given much instruction about what to do and how to do it. It has been 10 years since I have written a research paper like this and I honestly don't remember. I am very disappointed in myself...I don't have that much written and we are almost at the mid-point of the semester. I want to have at least a good working copy by the end of next month, but I don't know if that is possible now!

I had to do a thesis. It depends on the school and how they want it presented. I did mine for graduate school, that thing was my worse nightmare. They even had us get it binded a special way otherwise they were not taking it to even look at! I got an A, but it was a pain in the butt to do!

Good luck with the research paper!

regarding the question about chapters, definitely email or speak to your professor in person - ask if there are any specific guidelines you can follow - and ask if there are any research papers available for you to look at - either in the library, his/her office, etc.

If the research paper is fairly long (over 45 pages) I would opt for chapters - if it is less, then I think sections might do, but I would have a table of contents in the beginning regardless.

Of course - after reading this i'm not really sure what the difference is between sections and chapters, but I'm in grad school right now finishing up my dissertation, and it's AMAZING how specific these schools are regarding margins, point size, spacing, etc.
