HELP!!!! (BM dress ?)

i finally picked a BM dress and it happens to be tea length but the lady at the store was insisting that they only alter the waist not the bottom, but this just doesnt seem to make sense to me cuz i may be a size 10 and 5 feet tall but my MOH may be a 00 and 5'7' and the lady kept telling me that the length was whatever size you ordered it in.. and i know that has to be wrong.

someone tell me whos right! THANKS!!

Re: HELP!!!! (BM dress ?)

thats what i said.. cuz if my FSIL is 5 foot and my BM is 6 foot tall... their dresses are going to be different lengths how can you NOT hem them to be even???

this place i had great service with and now i'm having second thoughts since they were VERY VERY VERY nasty with me. so we will NOT be going there. (if you want to know where let me know)

It might have something to do with the style of the dress, there are dresses that cannot be taken up. Thats the only thing I could think of.

Re: HELP!!!! (BM dress ?)

Don't worry the reason they do this is because of the nature of the hemline of the dresses. You would not alter/take up the hem b/c it would ruin the 'ruffles' effect you have going there. Actually the right way to do it is to take it in/up in the waist. You're lucky the seamstress will do this, they usually don't want to b/c it's more work. I know b/c I'm in fash design. Believe me this is the proper way to alter them.

Re: HELP!!!! (BM dress ?)

I had this issue too b/c I was looking at a 'bubble' hemline dress and the seamstress refused to take it in the waist I was so annoyed she was saying that the size you order it in will be the same length I know trying to picture that makes no sense esp if you have girls diff heights but it's true. And another reason they do this is so in the photos the hemline is all uniform (looks better)

They mentioned that they take wedding gowns up from the waist. I think it's b/c of the chiffon on the bottom of that dress.

They are beautiful. What color did you go with?
