HELP Breaking of the glass question

Ok I am getting married in 1 day 22 hours and I need help. We are doing the breaking of the glass at the end of the ceremony. I had ordered a cute thing online with the names and date embroidered and the glass inside. The site I ordered it from had issues and even though I was told online the order went through they had no record of it and couldn't get it to me in time . I should have handled this last week when I found out about the order screw up but it got placed on the back burner. So I was told to put a light bulb in a napkin. Does it need to be any specific type of light bulb? Will some break easier then others? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Oh no that's stinks! If you have time stop by a judaica store and pick one up there, I'm not sure where there is one on long island but they have a bunch of them on Ave. P and coney island avenue in Brooklyn.

If you can't get there I guess use any lightbulb I'm not sure how symbolic that will be to you though. I hope you figure it out!

Any type of glass is fine, lightbulb, thin wine glass, etc...

ikea has some really thin wine glasses..... I know, we break them all the time in the dishwasher....

something to keep in mind as a last resort

we meant to buy a glass, but ran out of time. We just used a regular lightbulb... worked fine!

My friend's temple used a ROCKS glass for some reason and my friend's DH could not break it... 2x!! I felt bad for him, but it is a cute memory now

use either a lightbulb, or a thin skinned glass......the lightbulb will make more of a noise.

any lightbulb is fine....wrap it in tinfoil first, then wrap it in a cloth...the tin foil will keep bits of class from coming out and hurting anyone...no one will no the difference!!

I'd second this - if you can, go pick one up at a Judaica store. I don't know where you live, but I know there's a Judaica shop on Jericho tpke in huntington, just a bit west of 110, if that's anywhere near you... and I'm sure there are many more.

Go to Yussel's place in Merrick (on Merrick ave, 1 block north of Sunrise Hwy). They've got all kinds of breaking glasses... you might find one that matches your BM's!

Don't sweat it if you don't have an 'official' glass though. Most people use lightbulbs for the 'pop' effect.

People like lightbulbs because you can hear the 'pop.' Here's another one of those details I need to deal with! Ack!

Check with Eastwind. They may take care of it for you. We did the breaking of the glass too, and the Watermill provided the lightbulb in the napkin. The cantor told us they usually use a lightbulb these days because it makes that pop! and also because a glass is a lot harder to break than you'd think.
