Help! Car Registration

Has anyone ever registered their car under someone else's name? If so how do you go about doing it?

I have no idea what the process is in Nassau County and I have never registered my car on my own. Please help!? Thanks!

is it in your name? are you tranferring the registration from someone to you?

There is a form at DMV...I bet if you check the website you can find out more info also.

One word of advice (it happened to me...and I paid LOADS of fines) make sure your insurance is in the same name as the person that is registiring the car, other wise it looks like an uninsured car.

Very true.
Your driver's license, title and insurance must all match.

What type of registration help do you need or did that help you.

If you're registering for yourself, just show up with your title and Driver's License (mostly) and do the form.

If you're buying a car but putting the registration into someone else's name then that person must show up on the lien/title for the vehicle and that person must insure the vehicle and list you as an additional driver.

If you're giving up your car, you can usually just write an offical letter saying you are releasing the title for X value and hand over the title. The new owner does the rest.

Thanks! I want to transfer it from my name to my MIL's name.

ETS: I already own the car and the title, insurance and everything is under my name. My registration is set to expire soon and I was wondering if I could transfer it to my MIL's name.
