Help! cat liter is

making me crazy. We tried all brancds but they all have so much dust and whenever i walk past the room with the litter box I smell the litter and the other stuff.
I have come to conclusion i need an air purifier - any suggestions. I tried doing search on internet found a bunch about animal allergy and all the crap that is in the air with pets in the air but so confused as to what purifier to get.
I need something to get rid of the odor (that lingers despite having the window open all day and night) and the dust.
After reading about the allergins now i am freaked about everything in the house.
help! thanks

Do you have a covered litter box? If not, look into that, because that will cut down on the smell and the dust.

If you want an air purifier I recommend Freidman's. I have horrible allergies and their air purifier has saved my life.

We use the crystal litter...doesn't smell and no dust. It's more expensive than regular litter but it's worth it.

I agree with the crystals...I have been using it for 3 years...I change the litter about every 3-4 weeks... If you buy in bulk the price is not bad...and less smell and work makes it worth it...

I find Fresh Start to be quite good!

what I have found works best for us is the covered litter box and TIDY CATS litter - nothing works better! It seriously controls the odor and (not be gross but...) it clumps well which makes it easy to clean. And its not dusty.

We use covered litter boxes and litter called 'Ever Clean'. It's in a blue box, and it says 'low-tracking' on it. Clumps great, smells great, definitely helps with tracking and dust!!! It's more $$$, but worth it.

Definetly get a covered litter box, it makes such a big difference. Also, I always line the bottom with baking soda, it helps keep the odor down. It has helped a lot.

I use swheat scoop....it's natural (made with wheat) and doesn't effect the cat's urinary tract the way some scented litters do.

There is minimal dust (my DH has bad allergies and we tried a bunch of differnent litters and this seems to be the best) and is good for your cat.

It also clumps easily.....

You can't find it everywhere and it's a bit pricey....but worth it!

I agree with the litter box cover...but I use Cat's Pride litter and its great. Zero smell plus its the best clumping litter I have tried and its flushable....I have tried the most expensive to the cheapest and this is by the far the best.

A co-worker recommended Woody Pet Bedding.

Re: Help! cat liter is

I have a solution!!! I never had cats, so I don't know for sure if this would work. But, I had 4 ferrets at one time and used litter called Yesterday's News. It has almost no dust, and it worked like a charm. They sell it at Petco. Get the really big bag it's more for your money. You might want the first bag to be the smaller one since you're only trying it first. All it is, is recycled newspaper pellets. It worked great for us!

Re: Help! cat liter is

Thanks guys. Hubby is not too keen on using a covered box b/c one cat is a big one and he is afraid wont fit through the hole. Since he is the king of the house and would get all upset and piss everywhere.
But on the airplane on our honeymoon we found a covered box made of wicker with a big hole for the cat to go through, so I may order that even though it is pricey.
Thanks for the other suggestions I will surely try but Hubby is picky and afraid that if we change the litter b/c apparently you have to wane them otherwise they freak out and piss everywhere. that is why we havent tried the crystals yet. But we have to do something.

thanks guys.
