Help - Ceremony with Poll

Help - Ceremony with Poll

We need to finalize the details of our ceremony. We are getting married at the RH, and we are not very religious. We met with our officiant last night and he recommended the following:

First exchange rings and say:
“I promise to you, Kristen, before our family and friends, to commit my love to you; to respect your individuality; to be with you through life’s changes; and to nurture and strengthen the love between us, as long as we both shall live.”

Then do unity candle, etc. and end ceremony with:
Do you, Mike, take Kristen
To be your lawfully wedded wife,
To have and to hold,
In good times and in bad,
In sickness and in health,
For richer and for poorer,
For as long as you both shall live?

And we answer I Do.

I like this, however, I wanted us to say the words of the vows and in this format, we don't actually say them, we just respond I Do.

What do you think we should do?

Did you ask the officiant if he can reword it a little so that you can repeat them? We are repeating the words & i think there pretty similiar to what you are saying

We can do it any way we want.

What I am trying to figure out is - I do like the idea of ending the ceremony with the words 'I Do' but I wanted us to say the actual words of the vows.

Trying to figure out if there is a way of doing that?

What are you girls doing, are you actually saying I Do ?

We probably won't. We'd rather say our vows. I think I've seen people do a combo where they say most of it and then they work in the i do part. You can do whatever you want!!
