So as I'm getting into the church part of the wedding I'm getting really upset. I had put my foot down about no Catholic church (ideology differences), so we looked elsewhere. We found another church that on paper fits the requirements, but as I'm looking at photos I'm not getting excited, but rather ready to go into a total emotional breakdown. (I will not cry, I will not cry...damnit! I'm crying...) The pix are of this huge grand chapel and it's just not me. My total ideal would be outside in a garden, but the church is important to FH, so that's why we're doing it. I know it's just a building, and it shouldn't bother me, but it does.
I posted pix of the church that's more my style, so if anyone has suggestions of similar ones in Manhattan/Queens/Brooklyn I'd REALLY appreciate them (the pix are the chapel from my college in Massachusetts, so that particular one is not an option).
ok, if your not looking at Catholic churches, what Churches are you looking for? Lutheran? Episcopalian? Also, what religion does FH follow? is he Catholic and you are not?
I'll be able to suggest more churches based off this info. Don't feel bad, seriously, my FH are both Catholic and while we are religious, we do not go to church every Sunday. We couldn't get married in our church b/c FH wanted a full mass and my church only does the ½ hour ceremony. FH church is so small, its like a chapel and would not fit half of his family, let alone mine. we started 'shopping' for churches and we literally looked at over 15 of them before we found one.
one that looks alot like the one above is a catholic church we went to, but the priest was so cool you would never think of him as one of those stodgy priests. its in Brooklyn, but let me know if your interested.

Re: Help! Church breakdown...
Ok, little background would help:
FH is Catholic, I'm not (technically Methodist, but really don't identify with any). Neither of us has set foot in a church for any reason than a wedding or funeral in years (and it's been close to 15 years for me). We are not at all religious, but it's something FH wants (I think it's also to appease FMIL, she's still trying to force us to use her church). I thought ideology was the issue, but I guess it has something to do w/ over the top grand too.

Manhattan is ideal, but Queens and Brooklyn are fine too.
