Help! Confusion about Thank Yous

Help! Confusion about Thank Yous

I am writing the ty notes from my wedding (which has been a miserable experience) and have a question. Several members of our bridal party have not given us a gift...some have acknowledged that they still need to do it, and some haven't said anything...should I send them a thank you note now thanking them for being in the wedding or should I hold off?

we sent out thank you's to everyone, whether they gave a gift or not. the guests who did not give a gift were all from OOT. so we thanked them for coming and said we hope they enjoyed their visit to NY.

The people who didn't give gifts, we are just giving a plain thank you, b/c we don't want to run out of the photo thank yous.

That was another concern of mine...I feel like I should save a picture thank you for the wedding party people and give them a little while to get a gift....

we did the same thing. I ordered monogrammed thank you cards from eBay so we sent those out to the non gift givers. everyone else got a picture TY card.

according to etiquette, you have a year to send out thank you's, just like it says that people have a year to give you a gift. if you want to hold off on sending them thank you's, I think that would be ok.

If the people were in your bridal party, I would definitely send them a Thank You. I would thank them for being an part of the wedding and their contribution to the day. JMO

I had responded to this on the Newlywed board, so I pasted my response into this thread, and I added a bit about the photo issue on the bottom.

It depends. If you gave the bridal party members a card/gift at the reherasal dinner (or on the wedding day) thanking them for being part of your special day, then I think that it's redundant to send a ty card saying the same thing now. If you didn't acknowledge their participation in the wedding at that point, then you should take this opportunity to send an appreciative note regardless of the gift situation.

We had two bp people and one ceremony reader who didn't give us gifts. I felt that since I ave them gifts and handwritten thank you notes at the RD, there was no reason to thank them again for participating. I can't imagine what I would writer that would be any different than what I wrote the first time.

Added:
As far as running out of photo thank you's, I wouldn't worry about running out. I'd just scan in a pic and order a small quantity from Snapfish, so you'll have extra just in case you get into a pinch with an unexpected gift down the road. You can get the photo tys through any of the photo websites, and it will be MUCH cheaper through your photographer.

I know how tricky all of this can get. Good luck!
