I'm getting married at Leonards, and with the growing cost of this wedding I am seriously considering doing my own centerpieces. Now I wouldn't personally be at the hall that day, I would send one of my BM or hostesses to do it. I want very simple orchid submerged in water with a candle on top. I was quoted $80 per table for this but can DIY for $35 max (could prob. do it for like 20-25 if I use only one stem of denrobium). Now my question: I know that some halls including Leonards require vendor insurance.....does this mean that I can't save a ton of cash and am forced to hire a florist for this VERY simple project?

Re: HELP! -- DIY Centerpiece
I don't *think* so. You're not a vendor so I doubt you'll need insurance. They might ask you to sign a waiver, which is what my venue told me when we were considering having a friend do the photography.

No! Just bring the vases over when you drop off your placecards and everthing else and you can ask your MD to actually place them on the tabel- I dont know what time you are having your BM go over there but the rooms are generaly set 3 hrs before your CH starts that may cut into her going to your cermoney!

ITA!
I think doing your own centerpieces is a great idea. I got quoted something insanely high just like you for that set-up and I couldn't believe it!

No you don't need to insure yourself since you're not a vendor. You can just have the centerpieces dropped off prior to put on the tables. I would just let your hall know beforehand. Good luck.

I inquired about doing DIY hurricane CPs and you don't need insurance and the BM sets up.
