Re: HELP- DO I need a theme?
You definitely don't need a theme. Colors are enough of one; I'd suggest that maybe you should search online for 'black and white weddings' or 'black and white wedding inspiration boards' and you'll find a lot of great ideas and inspiration for your colors, and you might even find a theme in there.
I know someone who is throwing a black and white themed wedding soon, and while she doesn't have a theme, her big tie-in with her colors is a black and white dessert and candy bar at the end of the night. Totally not something I'd ever think of, and so freakin' cool! She got the idea from searching online for ideas

I don't have a theme either...not everyone does but I agree that you can try your color scheme into a theme if you really want one

I don't particularly have a theme, just lots of red and lots of sparkle

I don't have a theme either. If I were forced to have one, I would probably do Hello Kitty but then again, Im not sure how I would work that into my wedding. I actually hate pink colors!!!
My colors are blue and silver and I'm still not sure what shade of blue. I picked that only because my wedding invitations are in that color and my MOH's dress will be a dark silverish gray...

Re: HELP- DO I need a theme?
I originally was goin to do a fall theme but then I realized I couldnt be bothered with all the work that was going to go into it so I decided against it... plus I realized all those little exta touches add up and I don't know if my family would even notice them anyway.I am just sticking to my color sceme also.
Watch My Fair Wedding for inspiration...those weddings are almost always themed.

I guess if you could say I have a theme it would be 'Springtime'... I'm doing a lot of greens and yellows

I am not having a theme. I am using my color scheme as a kinda theme, but I am definitely not considering it a theme theme

Re: HELP- DO I need a theme?
I felt the same way in the beginning of my wedding planning process. I started to panic because I didn't have a theme.
Basically the one common element of the wedding was my colors (choc brown, pumpkin and crimsom). Everything was based around those colors and it came out beautiful.
I think a black and white wedding would be gorgeous.

you dont need a theme at all... most people just use color schemes as a theme... thats what i was going to do at first... but i decided to make it beachy!

You don't have to have a theme. It would probably help though if you had an idea of colors so that you can coordinate everything. I am working off of my favorite color blue and the fact that my wedding is in the summer.

You don't need one.. I want one, so since our wedding is in the fall, I decided on a fall theme.. which works because I love browns and oranges anyway!

Re: HELP- DO I need a theme?
You don't need a 'theme'. But if you like black and white you could definitely have those colors tied in everywhere from linens, to BM dresses, to the invites. I've seen people do black and white damask that was on the tables, the invites, etc.
