Help FH & I pick a mini-moon

We're going to Thailand for our honeymoon but not leaving until 2 months after the wedding... so we're trying to come up with a mini-moon for like 4 or 5 days. It took us over a year to come up with a Honeymoon so I need to pick something soon so we don't end up sitting at home doing nothing the week after our wedding.

Here are the 3 ideas we have... if you don't like any of them give me another suggestion!!

Orlando - I LOVE Disney and it's all decorated for Halloween that time of year and it's also Epcot's Food & Wine festival. We went last year and had an awesome time. Also the Harry Potter park is open in Universal and I am dying to see that.

Cozumel - This would be more relaxing but I found tours of the Ancient Mayan ruins, trips to Chichenitza to see the Mayan pyraminds and also excursions to snorkle with sea turtles!! And neither of us have been there.

New Orleans - We have both been to New Orleans but not together. I found a great hotel with balconies overlooking Bourbon Street and a nice pool so I can still relax. There is a cooking school down there that I love so I would want to go back to that together. And I just walking up and down Bourbon Street and visiting the old cemeteries.

I loooooovee turtles so for me the obvious choice would be cozumel. however, im not sure how the spill in the gulf affects their waters as well?
in my opinion I would want to go somewhere we have never been to so check out to see if the spill affected them........
orlando also sounds fun and you wont run around looking to EVERYTHING because you were already there so you can still relax and just do the things you havent done yet

Have you looked into a cruise? They are super cheap that time of year and you can get to mexico! I think they are the perfect mix between fun and relaxation.

i vote for cozumel because to me it may feel more honeymoon like...we went to riviera maya and it was gorgeous!

I second a cruise. As soon as I saw the post I said cruise. They're so cheap that time of year and you can pick one that ports in Cozumel.

cozumel will be the most relaxing. ur going to be exhausted from the wedding.

board crashing - i went to cozumel with FH last year and it was very quiet. it was seriously annoying to go over to the mainland for excursions (if you do the ruins, do tulum though - it was the best of the lot). try to find a hotel in riviera maya if you can - excursions are easier.

cozumel is great for scuba diving - snorkeling is okay and it's where all the cruise ships stop.

there is no nightlife to speak of and the water is beyond salty and very cold because of it being a natural reef.

just wanted to throw that out there since we were a bit disappointed when we kept having to take the ferry over to the mainland to do anything.

if you do go - definitely hit up xel-ha...i've been there twice that's how much i enjoyed it.

we went to LA for our honeymoon. Even though out of state honeymoons seem to be the trend, it was sooo much fun! We did some cheesy things like go on a celebrity home tour, but we also ate at a lot of great restaurants. We also tried to get free tickets to different TV tapings (e.g., Ellen DeGeneres), but failed at that...that was fine though because we kept so busy!

NEW ORLEANS! I went to school there so I'm obviously biased but you need to go there! I can give tons of recommendations too!

Second, have we discussed that we are going to Thailand on our honeymoon in November? Compare notes!

i voted for orlando, but that's because that's where DH and I went on our mini-moon. I had a blast at Disney and we even got those 'just married' pins and everyone kept congratulating us.

I'm between Orlando and Cozumel. I was just in Orlando and saw Harry Potter, it was seriously AMAZING!!! But I feel like Cozumel would be more relaxing so I think it depends on what your looking for.

I was just in New Orleans last month for business. I feel like if I was there with DH we would get bored after 2 days, there really isn't much to do. However, if we went with a large group of friends it would be fun with all the bars and parties. JMO
