OK, I have never actaully made a great scrapbook before and now that I've graduated from grad school and have the rest of the summer off after teaching I really want to start.
I started to read the 'OFFICIAL' thread but it is just too overwhelming for me.
I'm going on a 3 week camping trip and I'd love to take some stuff with me to start (is this a terrible idea??) I have a book and pictures, but can anyone give me:
1. some kind of list of BASICS that I can use to start out with?
2. Any favorite web sites or stores in NYC to get them from?
3. Also, how expensive is this hobby?
Thanks!! (when I'm more confident I can start joining your parties )

Re: Help from all of you 'scrappers!'
Hello,
I am not to familiar with NYC but I know micheals, walmart, and target have scrapbook supplies.
It could get expensive depending on how involved you get, or not to bad if you just do basics.
You can go to creative memories. com and look at some supplies that they sell, that is where most of my stuff comes from.
If you have any questions feel free to fm me!!

While you are camping save things to put in your scrapbook...I take alot of pics like the picture of the signs.. ect...
There are alot of places on the island to go for scrapping things, you may want to make a day out of it and come to the island and hit all the stores in one day..
I suggest getting the pics developed before you buy the stuff, my first mistake was buying all the stuff and then getting the photos togehter, i have like a million dollars worth of stuff .. I could open my own store LOL
scrapbooks.com is a great site also, go there to get your free catalog..
Micheals in westbury has just complety changed their scrapping section, its so much bigger with alot more to offer, i dont know if all the micheals did this though. Scrapbook alley is a great store, and scrapbook chalet is great also...(i would not buy my books there though, they are expensive) Little shop of stiches is good but its VERY small... you might not find what you are looking for in there..
Creative Memories has GREAT cutting tools.. I have the oval and cirlce cutters and they are far the best and i also have the corner roounder and i love it...
feel free to ask away!!! and have a GREAT time!
