what about instead of x formation, do either an i or two parallel long tables? just an idea
either way i think you could just do the x if you really like it, because at the end of the day most of us get our ideas from others which is totally fine! i personally havnt seen anything like this so you would have fooled me!

100-125 but that room at the garden city hotel fits 450 i thibk and it look full
