How much should I spend on a gift? I am not really close with her but DH is friends more with the husband.

If you're not that close, I'd say about $50. Did she register anywhere? Even if she didn't, you can get lots of nice things for that amount.

If you are not that close with the woman, I wouldn't put a specific dollar amount in mind. You could put a really nice gift together for less than $50 if you want to. Target, Marshall's, TJMaxx and other 'bargain' stores carry mostly all the same brands of baby clothes that Babies R Us or other department stores carry - except, they are often times cheaper. You could buy an outfit or two and a rattle or teether for the baby for very little money - I'm talking $20-25. It's the thought that counts.

If your not that close you can buy one thing of the list. Or you can get like 3 outfits in white/yellow or green (if they don't know the sex)

Thanks!! Maybe i went a little overboard. She is registered at Babies R Us and they had the cutest stuff. Is $120 to much? The stuff was so cute though! Plus her boyfriend really helped us out with the wedding. My dad gave us a check to deposit that couldn't wait the 5 days it is supposed to so he deposited it as cash plus he sometimes refunds any fees to my account (which he is not supposed to, so it really saves me money especially if i go into overdraft).

That depends on what you want to give. If $120 set you guys back or is money that could be better spent somewhere else, then maybe it's to much for you. Also ... I tend to spend more on people that I feel closer to. If it's someone on Rob's side, then I ask him what he wants to spend. So maybe asking your DH what he would like to give them also will help you determine if your gift was what you both wanted to spend.

$120 for someone you are not very close to? That seems excesive, IMO, but you should do what you feel is right. If you are close to the father of the baby, then I guess that is why you wanted to do so much. I definately spend more when I am close to the person.
