I just decided that I want to get married in a church. Does anyone know a church where you can get married and not be members?
EDIT: OK, I found the historic chapel, but any place else.
Does anyone have experience with the historic chapel?

Re: help!!! I need a church and I'm not a member.
I got married in my church and was not a member of any church. I got married in a church in HB that my mom goes to (she is not a parisher though - just goes every Sunday). In order to get married there, I had to get a letter from my local parish saying I could. I wasn't a parisher in any local church - actually never went to the church at all in my neighborhood - (I had only lived in the neighborhood about a year and I am not a big church goer). So I called and said I needed a letter and they knew what I was talkin gto and said I can come by and pick it up any time..no questions asked. I know many people who had similar experiences...

I got married at Parkway Community Church in Hicksville and I was not a member. You may want to look at community churches!!

Oh, I am not a member of any parish. FH's church is super strict and won't do that for anyone who isn't a staunch member.

Where are you? I know you can get married at St. James Methodist in Lynbrook (my sister is the soloist), and there is a beutiful church on Hillside I believe in East Williston - it's Lutheran I think - FI's brother got married there and neither were parishoners... As long as you pay the piper, the Christian (not Catholic) churches do not seem to be too strict on this.

The church we go to us currently w/o a minister so they are verrrrry open for dates. They will do a wedding though if you 1- bring your own minister or 2 - use of the ministers they provide you with (from a neighboring parish).
When we looked at churches thy were very expensive or closed to us b/c we were non members. My Dad is on the board of lay ministry so he could def. help you out.
FM me if you need info - its in Bayside so its about ...15-20 min from Leonards.
Also, The Community Church of East Williston is very welcoming to non-members but they are $$$$$ and they do not allow pictures during the ceremony.

CVorduroy94...that's a great option. FH is Lutheran and I know it would please his mom very much to get married in a Lutheran Church.

Really? I think they are one of the ones that turned us down back when we were still going the Catholic Route.
I have heard Prsbyterian & methodist churches are pretty open too.
Were you Baptised? That's often the only requirement in some churches.( and $) I was considering a Community church, but hten we tried my dad's family's old Episcopal church & the new minsiter was great. Not all Episcopal churches are that open though.
The Historical Chapel isn't really a church, I think it's run by a limo company, but some people have said it was lovely.

My sisters best friend got married at the Historical Chapel (her 2nd wedding and her now-husbands first). They said it was very nice! The inside & outside came out great in pictures as well. You should go and take a look at it if you get a chance.
Good Luck!

You could try the interfaith chapel on CW Post. I dont know if you had to have gone to Post to get married there. I went to one there and it was a nice ceremony.
