Help - I need an Engagement Party Theme

We are trying to save some $$$, so we decided to do our engagement party at a hall. The hall is not the most beautiful place, so we want a theme to help dress it up. We are thinking about having it in May or June 2005. Any one have a suggestion for a theme?

what about a Hawaiian Lao au (i have no idea how to spell that)? that way your guests dont have to get overly dressed for the hall and the pics come out colorful and lively!

I love that idea!! You may also want to consider where you would like to go for your honeymoon and gear the engagement party theme around the honeymoon location.

What great ideas. For our honeymoon we are looking at a mediterranean cruise or Paris for a couple of days and the off to the French Riveria.

Thanks for the lovely ideas.

There's tons you can do along the lines of luau/beach theme. Instead of spending a lot of money on CP, you can use plastic buckets filled with sand and just stick the shovel in top. I know that Oriental Trading has tons of stuff you can use. I threw my FH a surprise b-day luau party and they had pretty much everything I needed. You can get frisbees made up as your favor, everyone will get leied as they enter, you can have themed food, like suckling pig, sweet and sour pork, chicken skewers, etc...

I had a beach theme at my e-party. It was a lot of fun. I had lots of blue - napkins, favor ribbon, hydrangea in centerpieces, we had shells on the tables, floating hydrangea on bowls, cupcake cake made to look like sand on top and chocolate shells on them painted pretty colors. Great theme! Plus personal since my FH proposed on a beach in Martha's Vineyard.

Good luck!

Our engagement party was June 6th, 2004. We had a Floral theme which worked out really well.

Where will it be at?
My E-Party is April 23, 2005, we are doing a beach theme for 2 reasons. 1-B/C the hall is The Beach Club and it's on the beach and 2- b/c I wanted to have a beach theme wedding, but it's not going to 'work out'.

Maybe you can incorporate an idea from the way he proposed....something that had to do with that.....

We just had ours and had a beach theme. Similar to what someone else mentioned, we wanted a beach wedding, but it was logisitcally not happening, so we transferred the idea to the e-party, on a smaller scale. Here's a link to some pics ... I made all the centerpieces and decor, some of which you can see in the pics ... Good luck!

What are you both interested in?
There are so many possibilities!!!!

You could do a 'love theme' with lots of deep reds....

Disney theme....with coupled characters (lady/Tramp, Ariel/Eric, Snow Cinerella/Prince Charming) etc.

Perhaps a beach theme?

Good Luck with whatever you choose!
