Help- Invite Addressing Question

I just received my invitations and now I am in the process of addressing them. Now my question is on the outer envelope I just put the address of the person inviting.... right

but how do i let them know that they can bring a guest and that the invite is not just a solo invite.

Oh yeah i have an inner and outer envelope. the inner is plain with the lining.

you write on the inner mr. john smith and guest

the outer you put the name and address. i did and guest anyway, but technically you don't

on the inner you would do 'John Smith and Guest' or 'Joe Smith and Marie' if you know the person well.
