Help - is it ok to have a 'Baby pool' at a shower?

is it inappropriate to have shower guests participate in a baby pool? The would have to pick a date on a calendar and indicate sex, weight, height etc.

If Yes,

how much $$ collected goes to the parents when the baby is born??? Would it be 60% for the new parents and 40% for the winner?

Please help, I am just helping out with the games for a very good friends baby shower...

we usuall did 50/50, but most winers always give 100% to the parents. Write it on 1 piece of paper so they can save it. My mom saved mine

I don't like the idea of taking up a collection at a shower, even if it is $1.00 a person. There are already enough gifts at a shower. Sorry.

I like baby pools but only when the winner is one of the guests. That way it does not sound so greedy and the guests have something to look forward to.

We had baby pools at both of my showers. The guest who guessed got the money. There was no pressure to participate - but everyone LOVED it and couldn't wait to throw their money in!

I also did this at my sister's shower and at both showers for my best friend.
